What is the best part of working at the company?
Thr best people in all departments and at all levels who support each other in achieving common goals. Great work life balance. Professional and caring culture. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Managing complex cases in terms of the multiple factors that go into the resolution between homeowners and builders.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Excellent.  I have not experienced a more helpful and caring environment where people help others to achieve their goals.  They are professional courteous and respect you as well as acknowledging the strengths and skills you have.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Consists of writing creating reports,  responding to stakeholders communications,  procuring consultants when needed,  traveling to homeowners homes to review the items reported as incomplete. Collecting needed documents to make decisions. Accessing other colleagues in their fields of expertise, use of  different software programs.

On a typical day, I start by checking my e-mail and voice messages and replying to anything urgent immediately. I then prioritize my work, reply to incoming inquires received via e-mail and /or chat in order of importance.I also check incoming faxes and electronically batch and scan any warranty forms received. Documents intended for other departments are forwarded to the appropriate team member.
I check the company's online portal for documents uploaded incorrectly. I check the electronic files in Content Manager and update them regularly. I answer incoming French calls forwarded to me by the Call Centre. I occasionally have meetings or training sessions during the day. I work closely with my co-workers and supervisor to resolve any pending issues. I sometimes cover reception at the front desk or assist with other office duties as needed.


Things really have shifted since over the time that I have worked for the company. Over the past four years the company has grown, the leadership has changed, and the expectations of Tarion have changed.  There is much more of a focus on internal communication, process improvement and innovation, growth, and employee development than there was in the past. Being a medium sized company, there are pros and cons - on the positive side the company is big enough to invest in tools and resources but small enough to feel like you matter as an individual and your ideas can be heard. Even though people are busy and the work has its demands, there is work life balance, especially compared to what's out there in large companies.  There are some long tenured leaders at the company who are used to working in a certain way, so it can take a bit of time to navigate through that but it's nothing impossible. 

Tarion is a great place to work at, the work/life balance is definitely there. You may have a department meeting catered once every couple of months which is nice. Management is great there for most departments, you can speak to a Manager or Director openly and receive constructive feedback on your work. Advancement is very rare, plenty of lateral moves are available however management is filled with "lifers" which are those that have been in the company for 10+ years.

I worked at the company two years ago. My experience was that depending on your department, the people could be either friendly or cold to one another. I think the salaries were pretty good, compared to other companies with comparable positions at similar level of seniority. Some favoritism and preferential treatment for certain employees was evident through certain promotions and learning opportunities. 

I was with Tarion Warranty corporation for last 20 years as an accountant. I learned PeopleSoft from Tarion. Management was very supportive for employee initiatives. Co-workers are very supportive and during busy time they work as a team. I really enjoyed during budget and forecast time working with senior management.  Its a fun place to work.

Tarion provided opportunities for me to grow in my career, try new things and contribute at strategic levels of the organization. Their commitment to customers provided many instances where I was able to work collaboratively with customers and key industry stakeholders.

Deceitful and manipulative managers, directors, and HR. Management makes promises and doesn’t deliver. They trick people into telling them things by saying in front of the whole company that they welcome feedback if there are issues that need to be addressed. Then there’s backlash when you constructively share and genuinely try to help. This is just the beginning.

Tarion is a professional organization and they generally take very good care of their people. Their HR department is very professional and the training opportunities are many. 

Very unorganized and unprofessional culture. No one knows about them, never try to promote themselves to the people they are supposed to protect. People have no idea about professionalism. No systems or processes in place. Not recommended.
