The project I worked on with Tata Steel Canada was poorly managed. Very poor morale among employees and managers. Maintenance and structural repairs were not being addressed and health and safety didn't pay any due diligence, All issues were ignored. There was no way to stay physically active except to exercise in your dorm room. Managerial leadership was poor some wouldn't even speak to you. Stress levels were high and they pushed for numbers and production cutting any corners they could. Contractors were not being paid on time or even at all, Contracts were left to the point of failure with no advancement. There were great people that I was able to have the privilege to work alongside. Overall very poor company to work under.

Management here is very poor, with a reactive strategy. Issues are dealt with only after they have caused a work stoppage and are much more complicated. People in Montreal offices control the purchasing without having any knowledge of the site or ever having been to Schefferville.  There is much uncertainty and unrest among the plant operators because they are unsure of their future. 
The camp is poorly run, a bit rundown. Only good thing is the steaks on Saturday. The rest of the week is hit or miss. Lunch options are often minimal.

Important note: corporate culture is Indian (not American) and you will feel the effects of it wherever you are in the company

Very few processes in place to run operations. Lots of good people trying to make things work, but poor management support and always struggling  to do more with less. Safety is a after thought, some good safety people that care, but no support from management again. Revolving door with high turnover and new faces every week. Camp is in terrible condition and the food is average quality. Benefits are poor unless you are full time.

Subjective managers (seems like they are dividing people on casts);
Personal relations with managers are more appreciated than professionalism;
Unnecessary stress, incoherence;
Friendly co-workers, good communication, no competition

A very multicultural environment, great experience in the mining business and friendly collegues.

Respect between staff and management was a very pleasant and important approach by the company.  

I learned how much work is involved in a mining start-up and how to remain calm in the most stressful moments.

I enjoy having great people to work with in a productive manner at the same time passing a few jokes for a good laugh. SAP training was new and  great challenge along with the whole mining environment. Leaving home for two weeks was difficult, while being home for two weeks was amazing and adventurous.

as usual 8 hr. working, here i learned about quality control at mines, geological modelling, mapping, core logging. But along with the all learning i felt that there is a little scope for growth, its a jam packed situation.

Quality testing of as rolled steel billet, I learned how to be safety conscious at all times. Good management and a great workforce. Hardest part of the job was manual handling of the product with steel bar weighing in excess of 5 tonnes each, most enjoyable part was working with a great team of people.
