Most work days consist of PLCs, Sensors, Open MCCs (starters, relays, relay logic) Drives (AC/DC), Cabling, Cranes also Performing/Verifying lockoutsand and doing Preventive Maintenance.

Working in an industrial setting I've learned about a vast amount of electrical systems and components, mainly associated with equipment listed above.

Management is set in more than one level/tier throughout the mill.  For the most part our dept is pretty close with one another, Managment always tries to make their best strides with us to keep things mutually respected.

Co-workers our again set in more than one level and also depts.  As any trade working with another there can be conflicts that arise,  but for the most part the main goal is to do each others part and keep things going ahead.  For the most part everyone interacts with each other in a positive manner.

Hardest part of the job, is the overall area and depth at which you need to know things, also need to be able to prioritize things in an efficient manner. 

Most enjoyable part of the job would be the different challenges provided and all the different systems associated.  Not every day is the same grind and offers something new to learn.  Also enjoy the shift work.

Tenaris Prudential is offering an integrated work, job-pool, with good wage and benefits. It is an oil and gas pipe-manufacturing facility. The main operation is in a systematic production line setting, with two or three rotating shifts, including with service-maintenance. The maintenance-machine shop operation was on two shift rotation. The interactive communication has lots of opportunities to improve and grow. The hourly-unionised mentality and the salary-management mentality was challenged with broken communication. Without unilateral approach and collective teamwork, the work-effort remains in stagnation. All operations are ceased since 2015, and there is hope for fresh and better start. Never the less going forward in the new industrial world, the team-work is essentially emphasised. With good input and good effort, Tenaris Prudential-Steel can be a good option to be explored for work. It offers many opportunities to grow and learn.

I moved here from Ontario about 11 years ago. I have been working in the pipe industry since day one in Alberta. I started as a swamper in my first pipe company which was great. I Got a lot of experience and moved on from there. I have worked in four different pipe yards/ companies and i can honestly say I have found my place which is at Tenaris. The money, benefits and overtime is great which is important. But to me it's more than that, At Tenaris you're treated with respect from day one which everyone deserves and we all work as a team to get the job done in a safe and efficient way. It feels like the group that I work with is family and it's good times all around. Lots of experienced hands at our location and we will teach you and want to see you succeed. I have only been with Tenaris for a little over one year and if everything goes as planned, I would like to retire at this company. If you show Initiative you will be in courses to get your tickets. Forklift, scissorlift, Skid steer, first aid ect ect. Lots of room to grow throughout Tenaris. 

Tenaris is a well-established global leader in steel pipe manufacturing, and my experience working there has been very positive. The company provides a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement. I gained valuable hands-on experience in quality inspection, NDT testing, and manufacturing processes. The work environment is disciplined and professional, with proper training provided to employees to ensure high standards are maintained. Teamwork is encouraged, and supervisors are generally supportive in guiding new employees and helping them improve their skills. Tenaris also uses modern machinery and advanced technology, which helped me improve my technical knowledge and practical skills in the industry. The company follows strict safety procedures, which creates a secure working environment. Although the workload can be demanding at times, it helps build strong experience and work discipline. Overall, Tenaris is an excellent place for learning and career growth in the manufacturing and quality field.

My current job in production is very dynamic with basic functions but having to adapt quick to the needs of the production/line and demand and problem response.
I have learned how to prioritize tasks during higher work load periods, manage a team, how to be calm and cope with stress balance, and respond properly under pressure.
I am lucky to have an excellent team of co-workers such as maintenance,engineering safety and quality departments that I deal with daily. 
Hardest part of the work is to keep a motivated team of operators who have been performing very repetitive tasks for years.
Most enjoyable part of the job is that being in charge of a production line i am the first line to report to the higher management which provides a great exposure. Also having the responsibility of taking decisions and manage a team.

Typical Day at Work:
12 hour rotational shifts from 6am - 6pm and 6pm - 6am.
I arrive to work, read the order sheet to see what must get done for the day and pick up or start a new order from where the last team left off.
I cook, cut, precisely measure, stencil, number and swage pipe. 
There is also quit a bit of computer input to be done for every order. Mathematics is a very huge part of our day to day routine. If you mess up a measurement or input a number into the computer incorrectly you can prolong an order going out by days even weeks.

Continuously always wanting to learn more to be the best I can be for my employers.

Enjoyable Part of the Job:
I enjoy the physical and mental parts of the job.The crew I work with and feeling like I accomplished something after every shift.

The company was very good to me and recognized I had potential for any job situation and that I was a dedicated, hard working team player. The job environment was very hot, dirty and noisy but they offered me good opportunities for advancement and held many different positions always progressing in the company. The general work force was very frustrating with a lot of childish things going on and the lack of team work by a lot of workers. The hardest part of the job was trying to be a team player in an environment that was anything but. The most enjoyable part was recognition from management of jobs well done and their apparent appreciation.

After 2+ years of what the GM in Canada calls "terrible" (referring to restructuring, plant closures and a very difficult downturn in the Oil and Gas industry), Tenaris is looking brighter with the introduction of Rig Direct, an industry game changing full cycle manufacture through to delivery of tubes and pipes directly to rig sites.

There had been plant closures and lay offs the past couple of years which is where some of the disgruntled employees are on this review site. However, those who have remained, have had long tenures here of 5 through to 30+ years, and work hard. 

Every job is what you make it; Tenaris is on the upswing with a more upbeat staff, and some new fresh faces. The Prudential site was announced to be reopening in July here in Calgary. The AlgomaTubes site in Sault Ste. Marie reopened last fall. 

Good things to come for Tenaris.

My typical day at work is that making sure that the machine is in good condition, detection of machine problem should be observed, perform preventive maintenance and calibration of machine. I have learned additional techniques in performing my jobs. In terms of management, they provided want we need and what is good for the employee and production (referring to employer). I have fun and enjoyment working with my co-workers. They are very welcome to share their knowledge in order us to contribute well for the benefits of the company. Apparently, I never been encountered any hardest part of my job because I enjoy what I do. The most enjoyable part of my job is that the techniques because I makes my job easier and comfortable in a way that I can produce more product that has quality.

Tenaris is a global company leader on what they do. If you are committed, have high work ethics, and are willing to learn and walk the extra mile, Tenaris is a great company where to develop your career, and where you'll find many opportunities to become an expert on your job or move upwards or laterally. On the flip side, work-life balance could be a concern. Although it has presence in every continent and promotes a multicultural and diverse environment, there's still a big influence of its Latin American roots, which some times could be challenging if you are not familiar with that culture.
