A Typical Day at Work

A typical day is fast-paced and highly dynamic. My role involves overseeing multiple departments simultaneously—sales operations, HR, training, compliance, and leadership development—while also working closely with senior leadership on strategy and growth initiatives. Days often include problem-solving, decision-making, coaching leaders, reviewing performance metrics, and responding to real-time operational needs across regions. No two days are the same, which keeps the work engaging and challenging.

What I Believe I Learned

TAG provided a strong learning environment, especially in leadership, people management, and scaling operations. I gained hands-on experience building systems, developing leaders, and managing high-volume teams across multiple markets. The role required adaptability, clear communication, and the ability to make decisions quickly while balancing both people and performance. It significantly strengthened my operational and executive skill set.

Management

Management at TAG is hands-on, performance-driven, and growth-oriented. Leaders are expected to take ownership, be accountable, and lead by example. There is a strong emphasis on results, but also on developing people into leadership roles. I’ve had the privilege of being with The Acquisition Group for 11 incredible years, and what a journey it’s been! I started in 2014 at 19—shy, with no sales experience, and honestly wondering if I was the right fit for the role. From day one, I was embraced by a culture unlike any I’d experienced before. The team outings, genuine focus on personal growth, and supportive environment made me feel valued and encouraged.

With the guidance and mentorship of the leadership team, my confidence grew steadily. What began as self-doubt quickly transformed into a strong belief in my abilities, and before I knew it, I went from being a quiet newcomer to a confident leader.

As my career evolved, I had the opportunity to manage two call centers in support of our long-term client, TELUS, in Burnaby—first with CST and later with the Channel Retention Team (CRT). It wasn’t always easy, but these experiences allowed me to sharpen my leadership skills while helping my teams grow and thrive. The continuous training and support from The Acquisition Group played a crucial role in both my development and the success of those I had the privilege to lead.

Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for how far I’ve come. The company’s commitment to fostering growth, building confidence, and offering unwavering support has been the foundation of my success, opening doors I never imagined and creating opportunities I once thought impossible.

We have unlimited income and growth opportunities. I have personally started from an entry level sales position almost 5 years ago while I was still in school. And after finishing my Masters degree in Accounting I've decided to give it a 100% here rather than going into Accounting field, because I have seen way more rapid growth opportunities and I have seen the rewards I am going to get for my hard work and it all worked out perfectly! I got to a GM position and started to run my own business within a business 3.5 years after my start date. It took me only 3.5 years to get to a 6 digits income, so I consider it fast pace. It would take way longer in Accounting field to grow to the same level I assume.

A lot of people might be scared of the commission structure at first, but if sales is a right fit for you and challenges only boost your productivity and motivate you to overcome them, you don't need to worry about the commission pay structure. We have over 400 employees and they all have their bills, rent, mortgages, etc and this structure gives opportunities for them to not only pay their bills and live from a pay cheque to pay cheque, but also travel and enjoy quality time with their families. 

Yes, you won't  become a great salesman over night if you don't have any experience in sales. This position requires right attitude, consistent effort and perseverance! But the more efforts you are going to put in the more rewards are going to come back your way.

We do quite a bit of direct marketing too, and some people might consider it a con, but in the end of the day sales are about conversations and we are using the most efficient ways of getting more conversations with potential customers. One of them is direct marketing door to door - from our experience one of the most efficient ways to have more conversations with prospects. And as a result the scale of sales is not even comparable with other sales channels. 

To wrap up, I'll only add that on top of everything I've mentioned above we also have the best office environment and team culture, very supportive and fun.

I'd only consider working here if you are either a live-at-home student looking for a summer job or are extremely gifted at sales.
If you are over 30, need to support a family, and looking for an entry-level career change, I'd say don't even think about it.
It's virtually door-to-door internet sales, and if you're a natural sales guru, there's also lots of opportunity for advancement.
But like ANY sales job, it takes most people YEARS, not weeks or even months to get to the level of making any sort of steady profit.

Get used to long hours with little time for personal life, for little to no pay and lots of money being lost to travel expenses. Anyone living in Vancouver on their own probably can't afford this job. Being sent to sometimes seedy or dangerous neighbourhoods in miserable weather, abuse from disgruntled customers, and group shaming tactics from managers if you don't reach your goals.

The perks would be definitely your co-workers..... a very upbeat, positive, friendly and supportive bunch, which lifts the grind of the job at times.
Also, I'd say sales jobs tend to build confidence and teach a lot more transferable skills than most people realize.

I've been working at TAG for almost two years and this is by far the best experience I've had working in sales and marketing. This organization genuinely cares about its people. A typical day at work involves me coming in at 9:30 to prepare for the events & territory the team will be working in, coordinating with different departments & planning workshops/training sessions for the agents to improve their skills & ask any necessary questions. Once we’re out of office I’ll work closely with the agents to provide hands on training for their professional development. 

During my time at the acquisition group, I’ve learned professional & soft skills when it comes to working closely with both clients & management. Overall a big improvement in my mindset with communication skills. 

Workplace culture is very diverse. Good mix of everything, this helps the team benefit from different viewpoints & strengths to keep a balance. 

Hardest part about the job would have to be the hours & the conversations with people at first. It takes sometime but once you develop your own style, you start to build momentum. 

Lastly, the most enjoyable part is the overall support & growth aspect that has helped me transcend & become the individual I want to be while also working with talented agents that I can develop along the way also. 

The Acquisition Group is a super diverse company with a ton of different opportunities in all areas of sales, marketing, leadership, HR, admin, SaaS, account management, tech, B2B, social media, client management, quality assurance, finance, etc.  I've worked in most of these positions, and currently help lead many of these departments. I started in an entry level door to door commission only job and grew through the business into a senior leadership position now running departments across both Canada and the US.  The growth opportunity here is surpasses any other company out there.  I've gotten to travel the world, meet incredible people, learn daily, and develop a life long career - all from taking a chance on entry level sales.
