The Installation Group

As many people have already pointed out, for technicians out in the field it is a high stress job for little pay. You also do not get any job satisfaction for a job well done because frankly the company pushes you to do as little as possible on a job to "make it work" so they can overload your schedule for the day. No time for taking the extra steps to make sure it's a good installation. You could wake up in the morning with 3 or 4 jobs scheduled for the AM time slot, and 3 of them could be complete installations and to make your "interval" you really need to cut corners. And if you don't they have little games they play like assigning those jobs to other techs who aren't even working that day so they look good in Bell's eyes.  Your service calls are usually a result of the previous Technician doing a shoddy job in the installation and you could be stuck there fixing it for a few hrs for a whopping 20 dollar flat rate. You start early , most of the time you finish quite late and it averages minimum wage. Lots of crawling through mud, crawl spaces, rain ... snow ....and you get to be the person who the customer yells at when they don't like Bell's service.

Do not work here. Always pushing to do more work with an already busy schedule, don't care about your 2 days off (they gave me Tuesday's and Wednesday's off) You're doing inventory and vehicle maintenance on your time off.  You take their company van home everyday and have to store all of their product (dishes, receivers, cable, tripods... and so on) in your own house. You are responsible for garbage and recycle if you are not working directly in Sudbury.

They say you can make 50000 a year worked my but off morning to dark cleared 1600 in 1 month no overtime they don't even keep track of hours. I'm still fighting with them to get my ROE even though I quit back in August took them months to pay me my last pay which wasn't right which they said it was. 

If you are wondering why there is a high turnover rate this is why. They sure can sell you "we're all about safety and getting the job done right) They push you to buy all of your own "specialty" tools through them which costs around 2000 including the superbuddy.

I normally don't write reviews but I have to say worse experience ever but the job itself was actually fun and challenging just can't believe a word they say.

I worked as a satellite tech at TIG for over three years.  The job was highly independently, as you’d receive a week of in-class training, then a few weeks rolling out with another tech.  After that, you’d sink or swim.
The job consisted of mounting and repointing satellite dishes, running coax lines around and through homes, troubleshooting failed installs and upgrading systems.  I enjoyed the job, though the work could be bitterly cold in winter.
A normal day was getting to my first job around 8:00 after a 30 minute drive (this varies),  finishing about four installs/repairs, before heading home.  Drive time out of district was paid out, and you could take the company van home.
Work life balance is poor, and I wouldn’t recommend TIG to anyone with kids.  You will be assigned two off days, and will automatically be assigned to work all holidays that don’t fall on those weekdays.  On the plus side, they were very accommodating of time off requests.
Paycheques vary from busy to slow season.
I never had trouble with pay being held up, and the office staff were responsive.

This company does not respect their employees. The are nice and friendly on the phone and tell you they will help with your questions/concerns but almost never follow through with what they say they will do. I made a request for information on my benefits they said they would get back to me with the info I asked for but after that stopped answering my phone calls and replying to my emails and even after a month still had no answer for me. they over work the techs do not pay overtime even if you are working six days a week. the do not pay for travel time and while the piece work has a good pay rate when you calculate the travel and time spent doing vehicle maint. invrntory and paper work (all unpaid on your own time) plus travel it works out to be less than minimum wage. I was working 80-100 hours a week and my paychecks were around $800 bi-weekly. if you are late sending in your paperwork you don't get paid at all.

They expect you to bend over backwards and give them extra above what they ask for. I clocked in before my normal start time, often stayed late. They encourage eating lunch at your desk and continuing to work. They track your computers to see how much you work and will fire you if you are idle for too long. They have a constant revolving door of employees. Management is disrespectful and gossipy about their staff, and abusive to the technicians. They call technicians in on their day off. Make promises to customers that they cannot keep because they are overstretched. Recently laid off half the business.

Horrible management.  You can email them and never get replies and good luck calling them as half the time they are never in the office. You have no personal life as you’re expected to work long hours (that aren’t even tracked) and all holidays, they even call you on your days off to ask you to work. You’re expected to have at least 1-2 weeks of equipment on hand and storage will not be paid or provided (unless you live in Sudbury). The pay is decent and there is benefits but when you need to work out of your assigned district you are not paid for your drive time. High turnover rate for their technicians.

Company has a revolving door of Employees. Highest turnover I've ever seen and that's in the office. Tech turnover is even worse. Constantly late paying employees, never paying what they promise. We had techs come in for training and they weren't being paid there meal allowance on time. Literally would go a couple of days without eating. The owner has 0 management skills and hides away when these major issues need to be resolved. I was actually told on my first day by a senior employee that it was a horrible place to work. I should have listened. I promise you will regret working there.

I thoroughly enjoyed working for the Installation Group, I often expressed interest in working in several different departments and had the opportunity to dabble in several different challenging jobs. A typical day would start off by assuring each code was entered in properly so each technician was paid the correct amount per job. In the afternoon I focused on training documents for the technicians in Quebec and translated them so they were able to understand.

Not a great job when you've been in the work force for more than a year or attended post secondary education. Long or no hours, piece work (not hourly but per job), dangerous (working at heights and with electricity), no career advancement, buy your own tools (over $2k), low pay, fiscal work hours, outside almost irregardless of the weather and no paid travel time unless it's outside your district.

its one of the worse company you can work for Management is abusive and no respect given to field technicians. Poor employee retaining and 90% of the new hires left within 3 months of hire. salary is was not good as expected and Job ad was misleading there is no money to make with this company 830$ every 2 weeks working sometimes 12 to 13 hours days always mistakes in your pay and no one to talk to . no career advancement, buy your own tools.If you decide to hire on, be prepared for empty promises and empty pockets.
