If you are coming to Banff on a working holiday visa and want to spend time actually enjoying the place don't work here ! REPEAT 
Banquets in summer you are working long, terrible hours. the work is very physical lifting and moving tables and chairs 3/4 of the time (not actually serving). The pay is good as gratuity included but minimal/pooled tips. Talking to friends who were banquet servers at Fairmont, they get paid more than double what we did for the same job. They also have a set pack up/down team so employees are not exhausted doing 12 hour shifts finishing at 4am in the morning. 

Also with the staff accomodation, in the summer time you are squished in 4 to a room with no balcony. As soon as you quit/leave the company you need to vacate, which is an issue as it is really hard to find somewhere  to live in Banff in the summer time. I stayed for much longer than I wanted to with the Banquets team as it is SO hard to find somewhere else to live.  The food at the cafeteria did not cater to being vegetarian. 

Initially what encouraged me to work here was the fact that I was coming to Banff with a job lined up already, as they advertise positions online. If you are coming to Banff to just work and save money you can do that working in banquets in the summer, it is VERY busy. But there are better places to work, where the tips are better and the hours are not as long. This was honestly the worst working experience of my life and I felt trapped here as I could not find anywhere else to live for several weeks. 

Rimrock improve your pay for your banquet employees! Pay them like you used to! 

I just wanted to put my experience out here to save others the disappointment/hastle. You will enjoy Banff so much more if you live and work in the village.

I Will not recommend this hotel just because the management has too much attitude to show to the entry-level position employees. Management is not a very good listener or leadership. If you ask for feedback from a manager will say "what you think about your work" especially my manager (reservation department). The hotel will not provide you proper training and expect your perfect. They never see your hard work only the negative side. If you do even one mistake they will write in a 3-month review that you are not doing great. If you work here you will experience the manager also doing mistakes, however, nothing happens. If an entry-level employee do a mistake they are going to have a serious talk. Rimrock gives full of pressure on employees and then a lot of employees get depressed and quit. The supervisor at the front desk was always serious to the guest as I noticed and no smile friendly. If you really want to work for any hotel work for a big chain hotel as the bigger hotel will respect you. No one respects each other. Staff Accommodation team is an excellent 5 star for them. They do really work very hard with the employees who live with the staff accommodation. Human Resources never listen to you like your an entry-level employee and will listen to the manager easily agree with it. You will be going through a lot of issues with the management, however, guests are so chill and appreciate what you do. 

A typical day would consist of getting to work at 5:45am to set up the restaurant for guests in the morning. When there was buffet, I would make sure it was always stocked and made sure tables of guests were happy, also cleared them when over.Helped guest with questions or demands. Reset tables during breakfast and set them for the dinner seating at the end of breakfast. Polished cutlery and glasses. Make sure everything was in order. Day would end at 1 or 2pm 

It was my first experience in seated restoration business and I quite enjoyed it. I learned the basics for serving as well as applied my efficiency and prioritizing skills from previous jobs. I learned that helping people is what I like doing. 

The direct supervising management was very helpful in assisting me and showing me how things are done. They are team-workers and know how to deal with situation, good or bad.
Being a private company, there are no standardized rules, it is the rules that the hotel decide to put in place. I feel upper level management to be unorganized and slightly unprofessional, however I have never had serious issues with them and enjoyed my time thoroughly working for this hotel. 

Co-workers are what kept me going, we were a real team. They were like family as I saw them everyday and most of us stayed in staff accommodation. They really made my time there enjoyable.

The Rimrock is in the middle of Banff National Park and is a great place to work for anyone looking to enjoy the benefits of living in the Rocky Mountains.  

You are expected to be professional, presentable and willing to accommodate guests who are expecting a high end experience.

In the busy season it is common to work 6 days a week and overtime is sometimes required.  Working on holidays is almost always a must.  During the off season work can be cut down to 4 days a week.

The staff are from all over the world and are generally open and friendly people.  Great place to make long-term friendships.

As the bulk of the workforce in Banff is transient, management tends to think of lower level staff as easily replaceable.  Do not expect to earn large amounts of money unless you are willing to stay there for 2+ years and transfer into a supervisor role.

The hardest part of the job is during the busiest times (Christmas and the summer months) when you are required to work long hours with little down time.

The most enjoyable part of the job is meeting people from all over the world looking for adventures.  Also the location of Banff allows you to enjoy world class outdoor activities such as skiing, snowboarding and hiking.

I worked at the Rimrock as a housekeeper and then bell person. I really enjoyed my time there and met a lot of great people with who I'm still friends with today. Everyone has the opportunity to work in different roles and move up to more desirable positions. Management does an excellent job of trying to promote from within as well. Outside of work, HR worked really hard to push work/life balance and provide lots of staff activities. (softball, soccer, bbq's, hiking trips, etc.) They understand people come to places like Banff to enjoy life outside of work. Very professional and paid a lot of attention to employment standards to ensure a safe work environment for everyone. If ever I had an issue I could bring it to their attention immediately and it would be handled professionally. They have a great team at the Rimrock and I would recommend working there to anyone looking for a great mountain town experience.  

My experience at Rimrock was actually great. They give you the chance to professional growth and learn as much as you want, for sure you can get any position if you are interested and you work hard. What I most enjoyed to work there were the beautiful views of the Bow Valley, I was feeling so grateful to have the greatest view of the mountains at work.
HR always been there to help and supporting the staff. They do activities for staff, like BBQ at Hotel's garden as a guest, offer cheap rates at rafting, hiking, hockey games etc. My last manager were great, always trying to do fun shift and also doing his best to make a nice enviroment at work, which its the most important for a employee.
During the pandemic, they were great, supporting all the staff, always caring about mental health and bringing any help that they could, cheap staff accomodation or free food. 

I'm in stewarding, nice managers, good co-workers. Work isn't too hard and the manager tries his best to give you requested days off and tried to give everyone enough hours when it's slow. When it's slow it's dead though so be prepared to have nothing to do for hours in the off seasons. 

Some kitchen staff are nice but a lot of the chefs are kind of rude to stewards. Learn not to take their bull. In the kitchen they kind of make you feel like you're in their way but you have a job in there to, don't let them forget that. You are kind of unappreciated.

As for the Rimrock it's self, they have some weird rules when it comes to people visited you, such as no over night guest in your room and no staying in guest rooms over night without special permission from hr. Staff food is not the best but if you end up working in the kitchen you are treated to some good food, and lots of sweets.

I really enjoyed working for the company; the management was always trying their best to get us time off we all needed, as well as being open to scheduling preferred hours, as our department was quite small. I worked a 7-month winter season. I had a fantastic time both living and working at the hotel. The benefits are amazing, especially as someone who came over to Canada on a working holiday. I will say if you're looking at staying in staff housing, be prepared to share small rooms with 3/4 people per room, depending on occupancy. I loved all my roommates, and the social side of living there is so fun. There was real team connection between everyone, socially and professionally.

I was beyond excited when I moved to Banff and began to work in the spa. At the time I was there the spa team was awesome and our manager was great. The pay was good too, the days were long and the spa was open super early and late but that’s expected in a hotel. My issues were with the HR team. Beyond the worst people I’ve ever had to meet, they don’t listen, they do things that are actually not allowed by workers union but do them anyways. I had never had people treat me that way before in my entire career life so it was a big shock to me. I guess if you can avoid them it might not be so bad but I’ve only ever heard of super negative experiences of people working there and everyone complains about the HR team specially . If your coming to enjoy life and enjoy Banff I would just all together avoid this place. 

I worked here as a food attendant for a very short time due to the job type and management. The hours are very long working even when there are no orders or no tasks to do, the manager will still make you waste your time for a very low wage. The staff accommodation is also atrocious. It was like being in a cell type of living with only one room, no  power points, bunk beds and out of town with no buses running late. The social atmosphere also did not seem to exist as it was very hard to talk to anyone as everyone does not seem to want to be there. As a heads up to anyone thinking of this workplace, I highly suggest getting a completely different seasonal job in Banff as this was not at all what i expected it to be like.
