Management is open door and easy to talk to. They listen to your perspective and even if they do not agree you will know why. Hiring process is focused on finding cultural fits. Long history of internal development and promotion, fast paced and growing business. Hardest part of the job will be not letting your team down and meeting your own expectations for a company that values you. Best part will be the people and variety that the job offers. With so many different positions and divisions there is opportunity to try new things and discover what you like best in a job. 

When I told people that I was going to be joining The Sarjeant Company in Barrie, Ontario, several stated How lucky I was, as Sarjeant's is a great company to work for. Since I have been part of The Team at Sarjeant's I can attest that the information that I was given is correct, it is a great organization to work with. It is a family business that is run professionally with care, compassion and commitment to both its Staff and Customers alike. There is a "feel good" atmosphere about working here and a collaborative approach to getting the job done on a daily basis. 

Sarjeant's is a great company, unfortunately the staff is overworked and very understaffed.

I was the credit manager for the entire company with a customer base of 10,000 with no "department" I was the department.

I had requested staff several times without acknowledgment. Since leaving there has been many changes and hopefully I played a part in this. I would have retired with this company if this were different.

The finance team are a great bunch of workers and their work ethics are outstanding

I have been a manager at Sarjeant for over 15 years. I have always been encouraged by the owners to treat employees and customers with fairness and kindness. I think our work culture has improved a lot over the years, and continues to improve.  Sarjeant encourages their employees to give back to the community and they donate millions to local clubs and charities.  All workplaces have their downsides, and every employer can get on your nerves from time to time, but I will choose to work for a local family-owned company every day of the week. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Xmas party kids Xmas party fellow workers management could use some upgrades and new people salesmen are useless

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Sales and dispatch don't know and your over worked for little pay never know when ur going home

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Would be better without sales and a dispatcher who worries about his own yard

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
12 13 14 hrs depends on dispatcher

As a family owned and operated business, teamwork and collaboration plays a huge role in the day-to-day work involved. Ownership and management embrace an "open door" policy, making it easy to approach them. As the business continues to evolve, employees are given plenty of new growth opportunities within the organization.

Great company great benefits great management . Christmas parties were great, both kids and adults, management was always helpful and fair. Owners had an open door policy, knew your name and family, always had time to talk and care about your opinions. Equipment kept in good working order, concerns addressed in a timely manner. 

From the moment I started at The Sarjeant co. they made me feel at home. I made good money had great benefits good co-workers and a great management team that was always ready and willing to help.  I was kept working throughout the winter even though I was a junior employee. I would not have left The Sarjeant co if I haven’t had to move away from the Barrie area. If I ever return to the Barrie area I will for sure be knocking on their door.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Not much different then miller

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being a camp job and the equipment 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Ok with some of the workers but basically the same as miller 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long and stressful and having to do stuff that's not even related to the operation.

Due to family problems, I had to leave work. During the short time I worked in this company, it was a super cool team, with excellent working conditions. You feel like a part of the family. If I am asked about my experience, I always remember this place with warmth in my heart. If I knew that everything in life would turn out so sad even if I left this job, I would like to go back to that time and stay on the team. I thank you for being with me.
