Easily accessible by public transportation. Amazing helpful team and colleagues to work with. Supportive supervisors and managers. Good employee discounts. Great annual TSC warehouse sales. Overall work environment is happy. These are the reasons that employees work there for several years. Attrition rate is low too. Guaranteed 40hrs of weekly shifts with constant opportunities for OT. But, the pay is way lower than its parent company - Rogers or market standards. Its like $14.35 + "premiums" - though these premiums for working until midnights or weekends do not suffice to meet the cost of living in Mississauga. Without OT the avg pay check for two weeks would be around $850-$950 with deductions for Union. Benefits are good though I have mostly paid 10% of my medical bills from my pocket as it wasn't covered. Also the cafe is closed for midnights and weekends. This job is great as a first job because you learn CS skills and time management (close the calls within time limits) along with a lot of scope for growth with internal postings (but low pay). Work culture is stressful because the calls are non stop one after another but the job support culture is even better as compared to other call centres. Every holiday is not a day off, but is definitely celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm. Lot of activities to participate in throughout the year - kudos to Cultural Committee - and a lot of smiles all around.

This is the lowest paying job that I've had in a while. Yes you make minimum wage which is now $14 plus "premiums" but with union fees, deductions and taxes a full time paycheck is about 860-900 every two weeks depending on your shift. The shifts are 8.5 hours so you get a guaranteed 40 hrs a week, paid sick days and plenty of overtime available; based on the pay I wouldn't recommend. You don't make enough to enjoy the benefits like the discount on TSC items or the medical benefits. Direct billing is not offered so you have to pay yourself first and then get reimbursed.  As someone with a vehicle, rent, groceries and other adult expenses this cannot  be your sole job. Sure there's overtime available but this is a high stress job. You're talking to seniors all day and your main goal is to end the call in 3/4 mins so good luck just making it through your shift. Breaks and lates are marked to the second, nothing to buy to eat at work if you work nights or weekends. There are frequent postings for other positions internally and you can move around before probation is even over. Hardly any work culture though, no one goes out for drinks or hangs out after work. When your shift is over you're basically running out to go home.

Currently, all customer service representatives are working from home and employee discounts are decent...those are the only positives I can say about this job. Be prepared to have screaming customers in your ear all day as queues are non-stop busy. After a few minutes, you are already out of breath. You are constantly micromanaged on your stats and your supervisors will do little to nothing to help you. Shift bids are every few months and you will never get the one you want. You will not get paid enough to deal with the mundane work and TSC will not increase the pay anytime soon. I cannot count how many times I cried due to the excessive stress and burnout from the workplace. Avoid working here at all costs!! 

Loved working at the Shopping Channel inbound calls inputting customer's information after ordering a product or clothes. Had to verify if they were paying by Visa, Master Card, American Express,  COD, and Shipping options, FedEx , Purolator, ship to another address , if the customer was paying by easy payments or one payment. The co-workers were very helpful and easy to get along with which makes the job easier to do , and the management as well. The hardest part of the job was getting irate customers , the enjoyable part was speaking to satisfied customer . I learned how to deal with different types of calls each call was different, made me happy that the customer was happy and I was doing a good job.

They have not hired anyone for a managerial role on the broadcast side internally for over 5 years. In that time there has been roughly 6 or 7 positions open and they always bring someone from outside. These hires take months/years to get up to speed with the unique process in which we operate and in some cases, never really grasp it. 

While these people come in and unsuccessfully try to reshape the wheel, those who apply internally are told they are perfect for the position, but lack the experience needed. 

It’s easy to hit your ceiling there, and once you do, there’s nowhere else for you to go. 

I absolutely love working as I consider myself a workaholic. At my current job I am given many different tasks that help me improve my skills and also help me develop new skills. I learned how to properly use a cash register and give great customer service. On some occasions I am working on the floor, which means I have to help customers, clean, and make sure everything is in order and proper placement. My co-workers treat me like family, which makes the job even more enjoyable!

On a typical day, I would be in charge of price changes into the computer system, calender amendments for future programs, and on the fly adjustments for other workers.

The job was very relaxing, and if one doesn't mind sitting in front of a computer for extended periods of time, and is able to keep up with workloads that stack up a little quickly if not careful, then the office was a great learning experience to treasure.

I learned their computer software. A typical work day was fast paced with about 80-100 inbound calls a day. Calls would range from taking customer orders to customers complaints about merchandise they had purchased. The hardest part of the job would be to keep track of how long you are on the phone with each customers, especially when dealing with a more difficult customer. I enjoyed working there, my manager was nice and helpful as well as my trainer.

A lot of good and bad things about working in a Call Centre.

Good: The people I worked with were great!
Bad: The customers that called in to complain.
Hardest part of the job: Keeping calls short.

It seems like turn over is really high, and I think there's a lot of different reasons why.
