Too many people promoted into positions they are unqualified for, severe lack of support for employees, and a general lack of interest in improving this. Ineffective and immature leadership drive a very hierarchical culture and has created different classes of employees. HR actively punishes anyone who calls out misconduct or with legitimate workplace grievances. Conflict management is a zero sum game, where squeaky wheels are attacked for “rocking the boat” or questioning the character of the organization. There is little effort spent on keeping experienced or skilled employees who push for improvement, these are usually interpreted as treasonous acts or made about ego and personal vendettas.
Upper management runs on cognitive dissonance and couldn’t be more removed from operations or their employee’s experiences. Unethical organization that masquerades as a progressive company, but it’s just a play-thing. 

I worked at The Valens Company for some time, before recently parting ways. 
Even the fact that HR and Management were fully understanding of my situation speaks volumes about the culture of this company. 
There is opportunity for advancement in any department you may choose to work in, albeit gradually (obviously), and I've always been supported by my higher ups. 
The industry is fast-evolving, which leads to constant changes and fast growth within the company, but if you work hard you can carve out a little happy oasis within this place. It's not glamorous work by any means, but days go by fairly quickly, and there are a lot of cool people working there. 
Overall, it's a good opportunity if you're passionate about the industry and extraction processes. 

When I first started at Valens I was a production laborer. Within the next year there was lots of opportunities to move into different   types of positions, with great pay ! I now make close to $30h and I operate a machine that rolls joints... Fantastic !
Tons of opportunities to move up quick if you work hard and show dedication!
Do not let all of these bad reviews fool you! Alot of those reviews have been written from former employees, that did not show a good work ethic, show up late numerous times or not show up at all, especially during probation period (3 months).
I'm having a blast with my co workers and can't say enough about this place. We blast music and get the job done😜

The Valens Company is fast-moving and an exciting place to work. The cannabis industry is evolving at a rapid pace, which means there is never a dull moment. The work is challenging and engaging - you truly get to leave your stamp on a new industry. There can be quick twists and turns, but they are to be expected in a new and highly regulated sector. Senior Management does a fantastic job at communicating across the organization. I cannot get enough of the team-oriented culture and the cross-departmental collaboration.

I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience thus far and I would highly recommend Valens to anyone that is looking for a role within the cannabis industry. 

Over the last two years of working at The Valens Company, I have made relationships that will last a lifetime and exceeded what I thought was possible in my own career. From working alongside talented and knowledgable managers, to developing passionate and creative staff; each day brings both new challenges and fulfilling rewards. Moving to the Okanagan for this position was one of the best decisions I have made in my life and would recommend this facility to anyone who wants a chance to be their best self. If you love hard work and have realistic expectations, this may be the company you've been looking for.

Somehow despite everything that has happened at this place I still love to work here. The people I work with, and the work that we do makes the job still enjoyable to a degree. And that is really saying something.

Unfortunately the management  has slowly and consistently found a way destroy the positive vibe there once was. Management at this company is an absolute disaster. 

If you are willing and able to zone out of the politics, severe nepotism, and the complete incompetence of management at this company. Then this company still has things to offer……Exciting and fun work, great teams to work with, and if you work hard there is mediocre possibility of advancement…. 

I stumbled across The Valens Company by chance and I am so grateful I did! Over the past two years, I have learned a lot about the cannabis and manufacturing industry, while building lasting friendships along the way. 
It is the best employer I have for worked, by far. I enjoy the job and the wonderful team I get to work with. I feel valued and like my efforts have been recognized. The Valens Company has provided me with opportunities my previous jobs lacked. 
I would highly recommend this employer if you are interested in the cannabis/manufacturing industry or are just looking to try something new!

This place will consistently give you false promises and don't value reliable, smart, hardworking employees. It seems they like to promote those who lack skills and common sense for whatever reason? You know the saying "measure twice, cut once", well they do the opposite here. So much goes to waste because they rush to get stuff done, rather than do 'quality' work like they say they do. You can't trust everyone you work with here either. There seems to some favouritism. You will learn there are a quite a few fake people here. Like someone else on here said, there are many holes in management.

Was a good company then more it grew the worse it got. They must be hurting as they are penny pinching on everything. None stop harping on employees to move faster. Seems like whatever you do it's never good enough.
Upper management don't care about you. You're just a number and can be replaced with no problem. No raises ever.  You'll never advance. You will be stuck at $18 a hour for as long as you are there. 
Advice it's a sh**hole. Lots of people looking for new jobs to get out. 
Lately lots of lay offs. 
Only good thing is the people that work on the production floor. They make the days more manageable. 


Valens is still fairly new and although it is not perfect, it has a great group of employees. There have been numerous changes in the last year and it can be stressful at times. Management is doing a better job of communicating and that helps. Lots of promotions in production and quality. Some negative folks left the business recently and it helped improve the mood. If you want to work in a fast paced environment with constant change, than Valens is for you. Sometimes you need to take a step back, breathe and look at the improvements that have taken place. All-in-all, a good place to work.
