Toronto Police

a typical day would consist of going to 12 Division Toronto Police
my coworkers and I would get together and discuss the plan for their day.
Most of our settings consisted of going out in the community and participated in activities such as soccer camp for the youth, going from door-to-door talking to business owners about camera surveillance and the importance of it. The rest of the days, we would be in the office in-putting information on the computers. I learned a lot about getting involved in the community, team-work, time management, and the daily lives of the Toronto Police workers. I didn't find the job hard at all, as a matter of fact i enjoyed every bit of moment i worked at that summer job.

A typical day at work, involved: 
- coming in at 9, and helping the officers organize pamphlets, and files while waiting for our supervisor to come in.
- Once she came in, we would work on our bike safety presentation (that we presented to the neighborhood kids that attended a day camp) 
- We would then have lunch
- After lunch, we would spend time helping to clean the city parks, and remove graffiti 
- Or help to patrol the roads (watching for speeding drivers, or people not wearing seat-belts) 
- then we would go home.

On a typical day at work I would begin the day with filing documents, then proceed with taking phone calls, and then report back to my supervisor for any office related tasks such as delivering documents to any other departments or printing documents or using Microsoft Excel to collect data. Most enjoyable part of the job was location, being downtown core in Toronto. My supervisors and co-workers were extremely helpful and friendly. The hardest part of the job was none at all, except leaving as it was a temporary summer job.

Working with Toronto police was by far the most memorable experience so far. A typical day will be me getting to work and getting assigned my unit for the day depending on the supervisor and working hand in hand with them on different tasks. This could be filing a report, arranging paper work, working with community projects and overall learning about their different duties and responsibilities based on the specific unit.

A typical day at work for me would be using various programs on the computer like CPIC. I oversee groups of people and the work they do in a fast paced environment. I take on special projects as they come in. Establish priorities and delegate to the team. I update and maintain unit procedures. Communicate with supporting departments and senior management. Review and update computerized duty sheets. I train and evaluate performance of personnel. Everything above is done in a fast and efficient matter.

Putting up with people that do not understand the job and still criticize

As a special constable I received and booked individuals in custody for court appearances, and maintained calendar records of release and or bail dates. I was also responsible for all security aspects  of a courthouse, including providing first aid and ensuring that  the judges and judicial staff, court house employees and general public visiting the courthouse are safe.

Its such an amazing experience. You learn so much about the Toronto Police force and that law enforcement arent so bad as the media makes it out to be. Its an experience of a life time that i would never take back . You see the day to day life style of a police officer in different units and  the truth about working for the Toronto Police.

Policing is the greatest profession in the world if you want to help people.  The Toronto Police Service is a highly professional organization with some incredible people working within it.

This job was a fun, exciting,great, and the best experience . I learned and experienced alot during my time there and wish it was not just seasonal because this would be the place I will always want wake upto work
