Easily the worst work experience I have ever had. 

Toxic, TOXIC, TOXIC work environment. Staff seems very positive and helpful at first, then they speak horribly about you, as well as students the second you leave. Many horrible and mean comments were made behind students backs, mainly by staff members. The career coaches and management, simply put are bullies. After being there for about 3 months this was made very clear by the constant turn around of staff and instructors as well as students who started picking up on the structure of this “business”. 

This “school” completely takes advantage of their students and their financial situations, just to ensure they secure enrolment rates. Dozens of students put themselves into horrible financial situations just for Trillium to keep enrolment up, so we didn’t have to close our doors. I had no training, and when I asked for proper training, I was treated as if I was ungrateful for my role and incompetent. Management is the worst part of this experience. If you are thinking of taking a job with Trillium at the St. Catharines campus.... don’t.

Normal working hours is 7:30 am to 5:30 pm depending on the daily schedule.
What I learned: I was surprised to learned that management focus more on money than providing education to students. 

Management: Management style is extremely poor with no specific procedure and directions to discharge duties.  Sometimes they can scheduled you to teach a course the next day.
 
Workplace culture was good and Co-workers were nice, friendly, supportive and always looking out for each other

Hardest part of the job was that management and student constantly making unrealistic demands. Sometimes, class will start and there were no textbooks; even though students have already paid for the books.

The most enjoyable part of the job was working with nice co-workers. Good pay if one work full time and possess a bachelors or higher degree. Using software to teach online accounting and Microsoft Office course was great learning opportunity for me.

Good place to work, coworkers are nice and friendly people. However, organization is experiencing financial difficulties and all the emphasys are placed on employee to compromised students education. The new Campus manager at Oshawa location is extremely disorganized and have no idea what is going on. Students are charged for textbooks and materials but textbooks are not available when class is start.Sometimes, materials do not or will arrived at the end of the class; and students are constantly expressing their anger on instructor. There is no job security and you can be fired with no particular reason. They take everybody including those who do not want to go to school. These student are there because of student loan and they are constantly complaining about instructor not helping them. The organization is experiencing shortage of student and it will close down if this trend persist.

Teaching at Trillium College seems like the best job. They tell you about benefits, furthering your education, and helping students become professionals. 
What they don’t tell you is that if you haven’t graduated from their programs, you are replaceable. 
The courses are very ancient - not modern at all. Textbooks are severely overpriced for only being used for 3 weeks tops. Other faculty members are bullies. 
The work environment is toxic. Teaching the students is the most rewarding thing about the whole job. But watch out, because you are under a strange microscope that makes living up to expectations extremely difficult. 
There are too many students for the size of the classrooms. Some of the classrooms aren’t up to fire code - no windows, only one exit, some windows being bolted shut, etc. 
I wouldn’t recommend this employer to my worst enemy.

Trillium College has a "churn and burn" approach to hiring Instructors. As a result, the culture is abusive and toxic.

As an Instructor you are expected to prepare for you courses but you are not paid for this prep time. You are only paid for the hours you are actively teaching. So if you are happy to work for a low hourly rate and put in dozens and dozens of unpaid hours, then this is the job for you.

The courses are poorly organized and the instructional Powerpoints provided are embarrassing.

I would not recommend anyone work for this company.

Bad management, very high turnover of office staff and instructors, not properly equipped for labs, difficult to make corrections to course material (had to go through other unqualified staff to get anything done and they'd change supply orders without asking!) 
The ONLY good thing about this job was working from home - but that SHOULD NOT  EVEN BE ALLOWED to teach ANY course material!

It is a company that <happens> to be in the business of education. Great "stepping stone" opportunity for people looking for teaching experience. Get out while you still have a soul. Good freedom within your own classes.  Have amazing and terrible teachers. Teachers have lots of power to make excellent or deplorable classes without negative or positive consequences. Oppressive bosses. Give them an inch, they take a mile.

A completely confusing and toxic environment. Administration is a shambles. Little to no training provided to staff. Most admin staff have not been trained and don't know how to do their job. No one knows exactly who is in charge and those that think they are in charge each tell those under them to do their jobs in different ways. Constant video surveillance and absolutely disgusting attitude toward staff coming from the people right at the top of the company. Literally an embarrassment of ineptitude to see. 

Very fast paced you are given more work than one person can handle and they give unreasonable and impossible to meet deadlines. Upper management could care less about the little guys and they say one thing but do another. Anything that is said can't be trusted. You are unappreciated and under valued. You are handed work and then forgotten about until the next weekly meeting, to fend for your self when you do ask a question its all by email and you might get a response in hours or days if your lucky. Also, there is minimal training and its a try and learn as you go. 

Trillium College is a rewarding and challenging place to work.  I have always found my work very rewarding and the truth is that we, in the Private Career College Sector make a very large impact on our communities at large.  We do this by providing people with the knowledge and skills required to become gainfully employed and productive members of society.  Working with the team at Oshawa has been a pleasure.  We have truly overcome some remarkable challenges.
