UHN - Toronto General Hospital

Day to day work in the Hospital is always a challenging task, you can expect for something unexpected.it can get too busy all times. what I had learned is always you learned some New equipment Issues that was installed without knowing. Culture wise, it was a Diverse environment. The Hardest part to this job is when patients  involvement, and will not allow you for access in order to commence tasking to your work, because of safety Issue. The most enjoyable part of the job is when all parties will come up in to cooperation allowing you to complete the work that needed for the day to day.

My workload is fair and my shift is good. The pay is fair as well.  
Outside my own duty, these are the things I notice: 
Our manager seems to not fit for the title.  
Hospital is not upkeeping with caring for environment,  NEED TO CUT DOWN use of plastic bags.  
Those who repeatly avoiding work should get a fair consequences. But, not in this place.  

Overall it was a good experience. The hospital has lots of resources and opportunities available for employees, making it an ideal workplace for those who want to grow and excel in their careers.

However, I must say that the management at the hospital could have been nicer. While they were always professional, they didn't always show the same level of empathy and understanding that I would have liked. This made for a somewhat challenging work environment at times.



I've had the privilege of working with University Health Network for the past few years and they have been nothing but amazing. Their staff is incredibly knowledgeable and dedicated to providing the best care possible. Overall, University Health Network (TGH)  is a great organization that strives to provide quality healthcare and housekeeping services!

World renowned hospital with a great work environment! Staff are professionals and mostly approachable. The job is great and everyone works collaboratively to deliver safe quality patient care. Unfortunately, The hospital is short staffed  at times. The pay could also be better since everyday expenses (food, rent, gas, bills etc.) are also increasing. 

Good management and good work culture. Shows concern for employees safety and mental wellness. Promote healthy working conditions. However, lots of temporary positions with no employee benefits

managers, supervisors dont have a clue about the operations in the department.
they all stick together and all are friends
so the complaints never get dealt with
they pretend they care about patients but dont
some places will no longer send students there
HR is no help

Job is demanding, as hospital care is 24/7, so is this job.  You can see the fruits of your labour, just wish compensation was greater. CEO and other leads are good at unifying all staff.  Decent benefits, staff that are part of unions have better protection.

They have good systems in place for you to perform your job stress free. A hospital is not a cheerful place to be but my colleagues and supervisors made it the best experience I could have asked for. I would go back without hesitation if I  needed to.

As a clinician, it's a pleasure to work here. Staff are supportive, clinicians are encouraging, and I feel comfortable asking questions; perhaps this is the nature of teaching hospitals. Access to food courts, gym, and other amenities are a big plus!
