Once I entered the store I was told about the sales that would be taking place on that day & what zone i would be in charge of covering. I would then check my area & make sure everything was tagged & placed in the correct spot.
 When costumers entered the store i would greet them & tell them about the promotion that the store was having. I would then let costumers look around & shortly after i would ask if they needed help finding an item. 
 If i was asked to cover cash i would assist costumers in checkout. applying any promotions towards items & asking if they found everything they were looking for. 
 When we were ready to close i would do a walk around the store to make sure it was clean & everything was in the correct spot. Then i would count the till & sign any documents i needed to sign. Then get ready to shut the store down & make the deposit.  
 The most enjoyable things about this job was interacting with people & helping them find exactly what they were looking for. Also the ability to help peoples shopping experience easier & for them to enjoy coming to the store. 
 The hardest thing about working here was unloading big shipments of clothes for example, winter jackets. We had really weak hangers so it made the job a lot slower when it came time to hang them up.

This is part of YM which is the worst company to work for- their motto is "if something in our dysfunctional company isn't working just fire everyone". 

They are terrified of people stealing from them so they have a ton of strict rules and polices on Internal Theft - so everyone feels like a thief. 
Theres an LP audit weekly by head office (which is unheard of in the industry) and the audit is 4 pages!

They're always posting ads for people because they have such a huge turn over rate. This seems like an attractive place but don't bother because they are always whispering behind employees backs about firing them. 

They will fire the staff of an entire store and "start fresh" as the VP calls it - which is horrible leadership. Coaching is not their motto. Nor is treating their staff well - just fast $$$$$$

Its a toxic environment stemming from the top and trickling down like toxic tar onto all the poor unsuspecting young inexperienced staff- that instead of mentoring and support usually get the ax and their spirit broken.

Agree with one of the mentioned reviews by another user- their motto really is “if somthing doesn’t work -just fire everyone and start fresh”. It’s a kids clothing store and not a high end designer store - don’t need weekly LP audits which consists of 10 pages . Management is just the absolute worst . They cannot for the life of anyone actually manage . Don’t know how to provide direction , and definitely not team players. By the way, everyone gets different wages . They tell you not to discuss your pay with others but only because they want to get away with paying you as little as possible . Also, when you try and get in touch with the head lady LC she will ignore your texts, calls and emails . Only appealing thing really is little children coming in the store if you love them.

Nothing , worst company ever!!!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Quitting was the only thing to do , I bunch of over payed workers from head office who didn’t care about the underpaid employees who ran their company 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
There was no environment, work your   off never get a raise only when minimum wage goes up and then you fight for like 25 cents is such a poorly run company 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Work work work , no help some days had to work 12 hours shift and no one to give you a break so much turn over with staff

This was my very first job and I was very nervous about going into my interview but It was very great and I ended up getting a call back a few days later.

The first day was very great, everyone was so nice and welcoming and we all got along great. The start was very good I got very decent hours and after while they kind of got more slow with the hours and I wasn't working a much. A typical day would be folding the clothes in your assigned zone area and ask customers around for help.
Closing was a lot but not hard we had to
-take trash out
-cut down and throw cardboard out
-clean fitting rooms
and more.

This was a great first job to for and I love working here.

Working with this company before in another province it was great, moving to Alberta and working here was dreadful. I was a store manager in my British Columbia store and was hired at Urban Kids as an assistant manager. I was being payed less in the store than in BC which had a lower minimum wage, I was training my store manager and being worked extra hours with no compensation. I was in no contact with uppermanagment (District, Regional, or Loss Prevention Managers).

This particular store branch of YM inc was horrible to work in.

Working at Urban Kids gave me valuable experience in retail and customer service. I learned a lot about merchandising, working with fashion trends, and creating a fun shopping environment for kids and parents. The team atmosphere was upbeat, and I enjoyed helping customers find styles that suited them.

The job also taught me how to multitask effectively — from stocking and organizing displays to running the cash register and assisting with customer needs. Overall, it was a fast-paced role that helped me build strong retail and communication skills.

Would not recommend management position to people looking for good pay. The company says you can earn bonuses but only if you’re the Assistant Manager or Store Manager truly. They pay is minuscule for what they want you to do. 

HR will protect toxic employees who work in the company and say the have zero tolerance but only if you have proof from multiple employees. 

Good place for students to work, slow during the dead seasons and picks up during the holidays. There is black out time as well for Christmas and back to school.

The managers were absolutely great and understanding, the sales and people I worked with were sweet and caring. The company wasn't very inconsistent with their hours provided. A typical day at work there, would be slow but consist of tagging clothes, chatting with coworkers and customers, and making sales. Closing shifts consisted of counting out your till, cleaning up the store for opening the next morning, and lots of paperwork.
