VON Victorian Order Of Nurses

Company REFUSES to give a raise. Wage is FAR BELOW standard for position. A 25 years experienced nurse makes LESS than a new grad anywhere else.  Mileage allowance IS TERRIBLE and the company has refused to increase gas mileage for 6 years despite the cost of gas sky rocketing resulting in having to pay OUT OF POCKET to work.

EXTREMELY DISORGANIZED

ZERO WORK LIFE BALANCE!! You will be constantly bombarded by emails on your days off. Be asked to do on call shifts ALONE with ZERO HELP/SUPPORT.

The employees of VoN Sarnia went on strike in 2021 because the company refused to give any wage increase. ALL RPN’s resigned. Company has suffered an immense loss of staff and have struggled ever since. 

Company offers NO TRAINING.  They will throw new nurses for any shifts. 

EXTREMELY dangerous job. Zero care for employee safety. Employees expected to drive in the middle of the night to strangers homes. 

I am left to my own devices when it comes to learning new things, and since I began working here a year and a half ago, I have been deliberately excluded from monthly meetings, My manager makes decisions about promoting me to more challenging roles by excluding me from meetings at which promotional opportunities are presented to other instructors. While this organization prides itself on hiring older workers, they do not see them as having much of a future and do not provide them with opportunities for advancement. They also infringe on personal time by asking them to do administrative tasks without pay.

It's not easy to work for this company  The overflow of staff that quit in the run of a year is ridiculous as they do not flexible with the lives of the staff and do not  Try to accommodate. Unfortunately all you hear now is money money . The client care has become very poor as they are not the number one priority anymore like they used to be even 10 years ago. They should listen to their staff especially the ones that have been there and held the position for long periods of time through Thick And Thin but they do not take suggestions well and they do not have your back when situations occur and are quick to Jump

Independence in practice.  Management and support for employees

Last minute changes to work assignments

Excellent and supportive    Although you work alone on the road staff and management are there to assist and support. 
Educational opportunities available to keep abreast and update 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start with group huddle on phone to review work assignments.  Then on the road you go to client visits. Work phone provided with gps guidance to assist in  getting to clients home.  Flexible break times

Flexible schedules, it is relatively easy to trade shifts.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Chronically Understaffed. Often working short staffed.

Toxic. Favoritism is rampant and management are weak and inexperienced.

Hectic. Usually start a shift with urgency

My time at VON was an incredibly rewarding experience. I loved making a positive difference in my clients lives, while helping them to remain safe, comfortable,  and independent in their own homes. The supportive team and welcoming environment made every day a good day. Im truly grateful for the skills, confidence, and lasting memories i built during my time with VON. 

Underappreciated. Disrespected. They lie. They bend the rules, they ignore the rules, depends who you are. They make you feel small. You will never see a raise. Don't expect anything at Christmas. If you want to be treated like garbage, used and abused then this is the job for you. 

I enjoyed my time. Spent a long working there. Staying out of the staff drama is difficult but in the end I loved this position, I loved the management and I loved the clients. 

Should have experience.  Very unorganized and chaotic management  
On- boarding and Education is unprofessional 
Highly stressed management, jobs threatened

Very toxic and very poor management!!! Jobs cut from 12 to 6 with a much larger, stressful work load. Even when you do all the work you were hired for they expect more.
