I have never felt so at-home or appreciated at a job. I started working at Vallen during a very turbulent time in my personal life and have been shown nothing but kindness at every turn. It is a place I had wanted to work at for years because I have a friend who has worked there for years and always had such amazing things to say about it. She was right on all counts.

Every day I get to challenge myself. There is so much opportunity for growth within the company and in general that it is actually hard to choose which direction you want to go.

From warehouse staff to sales to management to directors, everyone is so easy to talk to. Ideas are heard, no matter how "small" or new you are in the company. People notice when you do good things. People appreciate openly.

There are of course challenges, but I find that most of them are directly related to the aftermath of Covid on the supply chain and labor market. It is essentially a universal issue and not one caused by poor performance on anyone's part, though I do understand why people are frustrated with it. In my position I am fortunate to have a sense of the pulse of the company and culture, and I can tell that there is an immense amount of passion and dedication in Vallen employees. There are some communication issues, but I don't think any of it is insurmountable. 

The perks that come with working at Vallen are great. At the Eastgate location, you can use the company gym for $5/month after probation. You can also get a discounted transit pass and choose from 3 tiers from an excellent benefits program. There are frequent events (like food trucks).

My job itself is very self-directed, which I love. I am trusted to do so much and able to help others with their projects. While my salary doesn't make ends meet, I am paid what I asked for at my interview, and there are currently opportunities for overtime in the warehouse on weekends, which helps a great deal.

There is really nowhere else I would rather be. I feel so fortunate to be here.

I work in a branch that employs 25 people. A typical day starts with good morning to everyone and evolves from there. During tenure with CenturyVallen I have learned that work/life is fluid and that you will deal with many situations every single day.

My management style is team oriented, encouraging all of the people that I work with, to have a voice in the hiring, training and execution of our purpose.

My co-workers in the branch hopefully feel a level of empowerment and control over their daily lives.

The hardest part of my job is dealing with the diversity of employees and their needs as individuals to be recognized for their value that they bring to the company, as well as the areas that we need them to grow in.

The most enjoyable part of my job is watching employees finally hit stride and start to excel in their rolls and ultimately take leadership positions within the group dynamic.

My personal goal is to move back into a sales position, where I have enjoyed many strong professional relationships.

Don't do it,  the moral in the warehouse is terrible, a very toxic work environment if they don't like you.  They will talk behind your back and push hard to get you fired if they don't like you. The only good part to the job was doing VMI services for the customers as it got me out of the warehouse.  You can't trust the warehouse staff at all, they will stab you in the back at a moments notice.  The manager doesn't care if you do a good job or not, he will get rid of you for no reason instead of dealing with the real issues in the warehouse.  HR didn't seem to care that employees were clearly breaking company rules.  The job can be very physically demanding but yet there are times when it is very slow which made the day extremely long.  The office staff up front are great and I wish I got to work with them more one on one.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day involves picking and packing orders, loading and unloading shipments, operating warehouse equipment safely, maintaining inventory accuracy, and working with the team to meet daily productivity targets while following safety procedures.

I work in the receiving department and I am a fork lift operator with the company I drive reach trucks, sit down and stand up fork lifts.  I also work on the shipping and receiving dock unloading and loading trailers.  I strive to be good at what I do the managers always throw new things or task at me cause I am very willing to move around departments.  I also do some inventory control duties as well I am very flexible and enjoy floating from department to department.  The hardest thing I find some days is that not every one thinks the same as me such as whatever task I'm doing I always think of people that will come after me and how I can help them out.  I love being a operator I am definitely a hands on person as a operator.

I was a receiver there,was trained on reach trucks fork lift in house traing. Good people to work with.will miss it.You learn alot.

Management is great strong leadership for thier crews.

hardest part of my job was learning the reach trucks just because they made me nervous.
The most enjoyable part of my days were the safety meetings, and group days where we had bbq lunches and visit with all the staff you dont get to see vary offten.
I enjoyed my year and two months working with Vallen i will miss the crew i grew with.

Vallen is a great company that has given me the confidence to take on any responsibility in life. Within the year I have been here, I have been handed challenges that most people my age would have not been able to handle under pressure. The balancing act of maintaining service work, doing fit testing, and meeting clients has really taught me the true meaning of multi-tasking. The best part about my job is the freedom I have earned after showing that I can handle and schedule my meetings without any aid or supervision. My most favorite part of my job is talking to and helping customers, and meeting them out in the field.

Working for Vallen was stressful and mentally tolling. 

The management is poor, so poor I would say the only management is when something goes wrong and they come out to blame the employees. You can't report the bad management cause its a big old club of nepotism, the only reason your manger gets the job hes not qualified for is causes hes good friends with upper management.

Theres is also a lack of training and they don't take accountability for it. You just have to shadow an experienced person and make sure you pick up everything they know before they finally quit.

I worked for many years with Vallen the company has the most unqualified managers they have no idea of the work involved in the field. They ask you complete jobs as fast as possible and move on. Jobs were not completed to standards due to faster is better mentality. There are three managers for each employee if you wish to be one of these manager’s you must be a yes person. Very low morale almost everyone I worked with couldn’t wait to find another job. 

Training at vallen wasn't there. I was there for approximately 4 months.  I watched the required videos and got very minimal training via zoom. When I asked for more training was told to go watch rewatch the videos or look in a book. I was promised in-person training and didn't receive any. There was no communication between me and the manager who lived out of town. When they let me go I was told they are going in a different direction when I wasn't even doing the job I was hired to do.
