Ive been working here for about 8 months now and these are my thoughts:

Pros:
-Fun place to work, everyones around the same age and mostly are college/university students (must be 18+ to work here)
-Amazing discount (50% off everything and free shoes when you start)
-Management is nice and overall it feels like a big family once you get to know everyone
-Great company culture, they emphasize that its a big family
-ALSO the discount applies to EVERY brand that VF Corp owns so you get 50% off of North Face, Jansport, Dickies, Lee and a couple others (even online if youre in Canada I believe)
-You really get to know EVERYTHING about vans and all about the new releases and everything

Cons:
-Pay isnt that good, its min. wage but for the work you do I feel like they should atleast raise it a little bit
-SOME managers are a hit or miss but then again thats with every job
-Hours are a big problem, you only get 4-5 hour shifts like twice/3 x a week so if you want this as a summer job its not a good fit because you wont be getting many hours
-Some managers are very pushy with sales and you NEED to be comfortable with selling socks and promoting other products or you wont meet your goals (you can learn how to do this very fast)
-Some training isnt very good - when we hire seasonals they are mostly stuck on the apparel section until management decides if we want to keep them or not.. THEN they learn everything else

Overall- The job is a really fun experience, probably one of the best jobs ive had so far. You learn ALOT about customer service (S.K.A.T.E. acronym). You NEED to be comfortable with talking to customers and striking up a convo with every single person (if youre not youll learn!). There are no benefits however so if youre in school part time and just want a side hustle this is really good for that.
 Make friends! Fun job.

easy job if you are familiar with the company. pay for me as a part time sales associate was minimum wage, no benefits for that position if im remembering correctly, dress code was super chill. i think you had to wear a vans piece if you weren’t, then i think they gave out shirts so you didn’t have to buy one. we all wore vans every shift which they provided a fixed dollar amount credit so we could pick a shoe. or we could purchase merchandise with our employee discount which was pretty awesome. discount was generous i think something like 50% off clearance and then 30% of regular. As any sales job, they really press you on meeting those sales goals and keeping track of how many people enter the with purchase/ vs. non purchase. store manager was alright. he was forgetful about days you tell him you can’t work. i was working two jobs and i told them in the beginning, yet i was still having clashing shifts. also i was in school so having them respect the days you can’t work due to school, was impossible. also it was kind of on you to get the shifts covered. 

Vans was a good experience mostly because of the culture and the people who i worked with, with the average age of employees ranging from 19-24, so i related and got along with most of the employees for the short time i was there for. My time their was cut short their because of health complications and school becoming to intense to balance both out, but in the time being their they were very flexible around school hours. The training was very solid, i felt like i learned a bit of everything in this job. I learned sales, cash and stock management which I'm mostly familiar with. The overall experience was good but i don't recommend this job for anyone looking to make a good supporting wage. Id recommend this job to people who are looking for a relaxed environment, maybe attending post secondary who are looking for just a bit money to support themselves. The  employee discount is also incredible, so take advantage of that as much as you can!

Shifts are usually spent on the floor driving sales and heavily enforcing a positive customer experience, focusing on stock processing/organization, or working at the cash desk. Management teams are very kind and open to communication and discussion. The culture of the Vans workplace is 10/10, and the top reason that I personally continue work there. This ( along with helping a customer successfully and significantly) is the most enjoyable part of the job. I would say that the hardest part of the job is often times the interactions with customers who are negative/escalate a situation, as with all retail jobs. 

* typical day is the same as any retail position
* haven't felt as though I've learned anything having worked a retail position before
* management is okay just issues with attitude and having over-hired people therefore lack of hours
* workplace culture is okay. Very sales driven just like any retail place
* hardest part is dealing with bad customers/coworkers
* most enjoyable part of the job is meeting people with similar interests i.e. music, skateboarding, snowboarding, etc.

This company has been overworking their management staff after multiple instances of letting go of higher ups.
After this, there are many issues within the company which become frustrating to work under. Issues take a long time to become resolved. We were given free custom shoe codes to use online about 2 years ago. They never worked online, and we have been asking them to send us ones that work, but to no avail. The company pretends to care about their staff. No bonuses. Strict labour budget and supplies budget, making it difficult to keep the store running smoothly. Fun to work here if you don't require a lot of money, and are not part of management.

I've been with the company for a good period of time and have really enjoyed meeting a ton of new people. My location has it's fair share of weird customers but what can ya do. The staff is excellent for the most part and you truly do become part of a family. With that being said however, my location suffers from having a hypocritical, pushy, selfish store manager that strikes fear into all the floor staff. Talking to her is like walking on eggshells because you never know how she will react, but that could just be the case with my location, as it differs from place to place. In general though, the discount is sweet and you will meet fantastic people, just watch out for crazy store managers, lol...

Vans (VF Corporation) is a great company to work for, especially if you're in a management role. They really take care of your development and lots of opportunities to learn and grow. You get a pretty decent discount and opportunities to win shoes all the time. The customers are always really fun. The brand has an awesome history. VF as a corporation is one of the industry leaders in making sure they maintain ethical workplaces. Obviously because it's retail there can be pretty stressful times during peak seasons and if you have to deal with conflicts between team members or with the public. Work-life balance for Managers is ideal, rarely having to work over the allotted 40 hours per week, and always being paid for extra time worked. 

In terms of short term this job is a great way to get your feet wet and build your resume. Unfortunately, there is little to no opportunity outside of the SM position. The company is growing at a steady rate and the larger the company gets the more they outsource for corporate positions. You are expected to accomplish a lot on very little financial/labor resources and the raises are minimal every year. The heritage and culture is embedded in the day to day aspects of the job  and that, alongside the loyal clientele, is the best part of the job. If you are a full-time employee the benefits package is pretty good.

Typical day at work would have you on the floor selling, replenishing apparel and accessory items, and doing daily operation duties.

Management was good and provided a work environment you would expect.

For some employees, they don't take the workplace as seriously as they should.

Because most people love working with the brand they've grown up with, it can make the experience more enjoyable. 

Good opportunies for those starting or being in between jobs, but the limited amount of stores make it very difficult to receive promotions.
