What is the best part of working at the company?
My time at Visier was a study in contrasts, shaped by the people in leadership positions. The first few years were rewarding, thanks to the leadership of two excellent managers. Their ability to nurture and empower their team was the cornerstone of my success and growth.


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Regrettably, this positive streak came to an abrupt end when I was placed under the management of a leader who lacked the necessary people skills and interest in team development. This difficult period lasted less than three months but was significant enough to impact my overall impression of the company.

The ending of my journey at Visier, after years of dedication and positive performance evaluations, felt like a betrayal. It was a stark lesson that even a strong track record does not guarantee future security in one’s role—a reflection of how crucial management quality is to the employee experience.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Visier attempts to be diverse. The company sends mixed signals regarding the work / home balance. As I mentioned earlier, there are teams with great leadership and teams with terrible leadership. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stand up (scrum) in the morning, then working through one’s two week goals.

I am really enjoying myself here. The following sums up the top qualities of this company.

- Great leadership - The leaders have been in the business analytics industry for a couple of decades and know exactly what to look for in a groundbreaking and innovative product of the future.

- Warm workplace community - Visier is still a very small company so everyone knows each other's names. Executives know your name and will talk to you on a regular basis. My previous company was a large company and the top 6 rungs of management have no idea who you are nor what you do.

- Trust and empowerment - leadership within Visier is strongly empowering. For example, our Coops are treated like full time employees and will have full access to tasks and technology that regular employees have access to. Also, people get recognized for all achievements and management do a very good job of making sure to give feedback that promotes your growth.

- Explosive growth - Visier is still in the growth stage of their business and is working hard to hit that explosion in growth. Being a part of Visier while it's young can be very rewarding in the future.

Typical day involves working on feature, bug, or other project with a good amount of freedom. Never had to deal with micromanagement.

Learning scala is a cool perk, Java code in the older product.

Management and co-workers are good. Very bright co-workers who are enjoyable to work with. Everyone works hard to produce the best product. Management has a good vision for the company, is open and respects effort and the knowledge of their employees.

It's still a young company so some of the older code contains some hacks that made things work at the time. I doubt many new companies don't struggle with this. They're doing a good job addressing this and the newer code is much cleaner. There is also high expectations with lofty goals for releases. Yet I've never found overtime to be expected and find the work-life balance quite reasonable, just show a desire to succeed and do your best. 

Being given the freedom to solve problems and how everyone is encouraged to learn are the best parts of the job. There is also a great patio for summer bbq's, free produce and pop, and many lunch and learns where lunch is provided.

Visier is an interesting place to work. It is also definitely a challenging place as we tackle difficult problems and use relatively new technologies like Scala, Play, Typescript and Angular 2. Most of the stack is written in-house so past experience is not as relevant as in other companies. At the same time, the above makes it fun place to work at. 

I also enjoy working for a relatively small company which at the same time has customers among the biggest companies in the world. 

The company is growing fast, which can be challenging at times, but at the same time offers opportunity for career advancement and having an impact.

Visier is a great place to be for those who want to build an amazing product as well gain some highly demanded tech skills along the way.  
The people here are smart and work very hard (there's some long days/nights).  Management does a great job recognizing deserving individuals and rewards them for their contributions.  One of the main things that sets Visier apart is its vision of the future.  Management has clear and ambitious goals for the company and if you're on board to help build it, you'll have a very enjoyable and rewarding career.

Despite having a few talented and dedicated team members, the overall work environment was compromised by poor management decisions—particularly the consistent protection of underperforming or toxic employees. Accountability was sorely lacking, and concerns raised by hardworking staff were often ignored or brushed aside. This led to a culture where mediocrity and favoritism thrived, making it difficult for high performers to stay motivated or feel valued. I would not recommend this company to professionals who are looking for a fair, growth-oriented environment.

Sweat Shop, company wants you  to live there
Many manager have been promoted since they did their Co-op at Visier So basically they don;t know what's happening in the outside world. That;s why they push you to the beyond your limits

Company had good leadership and felt positively rewarding in the early years, but a few high-profile voluntary exits  made it turn around shortly before the pandemic, leading to questionable management and development leadership choices.

This is a great organisation to start your career out in. There are plenty of nice people to make friends with, lots of things to touch on, and very little micromanagement, oversight, or KPIs to worry about (really, they measure practically nothing of value.)
