What is the best part of working at the company?
All the overtime, only Christmas and New Year day off for Hollidays 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When Al the owner dislikes you! He can say the most inappropriate things. Has been known for misconduct in labour relations

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stressful, to much work and not enough time or employees.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long with little to no support from HR. Also HR person is a snake! As per union reps. Would not trust her after you’re hired. Keep your head low don’t make eye contact and just do your job. See union reps when needed! Never meet with managers without union representation. Not just a shop steward.

What is the best part of working at the company?
There’s some nice employees. Not many and honestly there’s not much good things to say. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Toxic culture, inconsistent  processes, no definitive direction, management doesn’t have a growth mindset they’re set in their out dated ways, micromanagement and unrealistic expectations. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
VERY toxic especially at management level, the owner turns a blind eye, which creates a reoccurring turn over in staff in all departments including management staff.

For starters, it is a waste of time to work here as a swamper. Not enough hours. Second of all, certain managers have a knack of treating employees as mentally challenged. They like to butter people up and tell them that they are the best when in reality, they are completely incompetent. They show unfair favouritism to certain employees. They lie to you about certain aspects of the job to get you to commit to them. Great for people who are too incompetent to work elsewhere. You can do better somewhere else.

Trickling down from strong company values from the owners, you can tell the management team puts a great deal of effort in ensuring team members are heard, and action is taken with accountability. 

There are recognition programs in place that encourage you to strive for success, making sure efforts going above and beyond are recognized and rewarded.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Money and locker room. Boot allowance 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management treated people poorly... multiple unfair labour practice citations...

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Poor... disrespectful... callus and petty

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Show up early.... leave late.. get paid

I am a newer employee at WCS as a commercial driver and it’s probably the best company I’ve worked for . Only downside is really early starts and long hours 10 - 12 hour days are normal and they run on all holidays / stats except Christmas and New Years so it can be hard to have that work life balance sometimes but the pay is really good and benefits are good ,  just have to be able to put in the hours . 


Extreme poor culture of working 12 plus, sadly horrible training program. No communication. Managers allege over worked yet chatting constantly on the hallway or in the office with the girls. HR in my view horrible. 

My experience was not a good one, was left on my own with no training, yet not knowing the expectation. Very hard to know what you are supposed to do without knowing. 

This company is horrible to work for.  The owner is totally inappropriate and he is very dishonest.  I do not recommend this company at all.  If you are in the market for a job in waste mgmt....pretty much any other company out there is better than waste control.  I spent many years in this industry and WCS was by far the worst working expérience I have ever had.

Company values are strong and are seen practiced by everyone including owners and management team. Supervisors and managers listen and actually follow up with taking action. Open door policy, casual, collaborative and friendly work environment.

There is a strong family-orientated culture that comes from the very top all the way through the organization. 
The CEO takes the time to know everybody on a first-name basis and remains grounded. A good example is that he will proactively shout out employee anniversaries and birthdays over the radio.
