I worked at Walk of Grace in 2020 for about 1 year. It is honestly a great place to work. It is owned by a family that actually cares about its clients. I have worked for other agencies and they did not provide care like Walk of Grace. The pay is competitive and they offer full medical benefits. The training is really good, and they are on-top of you if any training is coming up or if anything is coming to an expiry. The Directors which I think are brother and sister, are great. They run the company professionally and are fair with staff. They are generous with the clients. The downfall to this job is that you have to work every second weekend and overnights at times. You get paid to sleep during the overnight which is not so bad. Overall I give this place 4.5/5. I just wish it had better hours, but I guess that is the nature of the field. The clients can be challenging at times, but the good thing is they have a behaviourist that provides training and programs to help manage the clients. This is a good job as a stepping stone to becoming a police officer, social worker, or something in the field.

Walk of Grace is a workplace that offers a lot of room to grow! The owners of the company take pride in their work and put their hearts in what they do, which inspires employees to put their all into whatever their role is. When you work for this company you will notice that it grows quickly and with growth usually means salary increases which is an added bonus! 

It is hard work and can be a stressful job, but the reward of working with adults and youth in the vulnerable sector makes it all worth it. You are making a difference in their lives and over time you will see your impact on the individuals that you work with. You will have more good days than bad, but during bad days it's really important to rely on your team to help debrief for your mental health.  

Plus, as a bonus, working here means you get to take the residents on outings which means that there is time for play in all the work that you do! 

A typical day consists of going on outings with clients (medicals, movies, walks, school, etc). It has taught me a lot about behaviour support programs and how to approach someone with mental health and disabilities. Management works very hard to make sure everything is running smooth, but micromanage at times. Staff drama from time to time, but nothing to do with management. They try and resolve everything quickly and fairly. Culture is fun and nourishing. Hardest part of the job is managing the clients. Most of them are easy, but there are more challenging and aggressive clients, that I personally prefer not to work with. 

You will work typical 8-12 hours a day it's a pretty diverse work environment the hardest part of the job is upper management doesn't appreciate the people who work hard but praise the lazy employee based on personal feelings  very unprofessional workplace at times under paid for all the amount of work we do and your expected to answer emails and phone calls even outside of work hours and expected to complete work without compensation  . Family owned company so they lie alot be sure to watch out for that .Only enjoyable part of this job is being able to make a difference in the clients life.

Walk of Grace is family own and operated. The owners of the agency truly lead by example and are extremely dedicated and involved in the level of care. When you walk into  the homes you feel  a sense of warmness and the homes are kept very clean . Walk of Grace truly stands by their mission statement and help enhance the residents quality of life by providing children and adults with disabilities with a sense of belonging. 

  

I enjoy going out with clients and helping them achive their goals. It can be challenging at times with clients, but they are in care for a reason. Head office gives you good tools to use, and lots of training. I do feel supported in this work place. Learning so much in this field about ABA and the development of clients with dual diagnosis. Day to day is pretty easy. Sometimes for safety you might have to place a client in a hold, which is challenging, but lots of training. 

Working as a Treatment Counsellor was a rewarding experience that allowed me to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities and complex needs. The role was fast-paced and required strong communication, teamwork, patience, and problem-solving skills. Every day was different, providing opportunities to build relationships with participants while supporting their independence and well-being. Although the work could be challenging at times, it was fulfilling and helped me grow both professionally and personally.

The reason why my review of this job is so low is because of how the cons very much outweight the pros. This company does not care about the well being of their employees unless they have a personal connection with them. I witnessed a fair amount of injustice at this job and I do not recommend it to anyone. The houses are also severely understaffed and you will not be compensated for doing the work that is supposed to be spread amongst multiple people. It is better to work at a company that is regulated by a labor union.

I have been with WGRS for quite sometime now, and I have worked for other group home companies before. The owners/directors are good hard working people. Some of the staff like drama, but it is always dealt with professionally. I would recommend this job to anyone. Clients can be hard to manage sometime, but lots of support from staff, and management. They really do their best!
