Most of the employees have huge egos

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Depending on what division you work for, it's very dusty. There are a lot of individuals that are very confrontational and intimidating. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Each day involves somebody or a group negatively talking about others. Many employees pretend to be your friend, but you can't let your guard down.

This is not the division in the company to work for.  Senior Leadership has no respect for any employees.  Very absent leadership that does not understand nor wants to know the realities of day to day.  Known in the industry to cycle through employees.  Employees devalued on a regular basis.

promised full time year round work then sitting at home more then working over the winter months. dont care if you starve at home they only call when they need you. no gaurantee of hours per week unless its busy season.(spring summer fall) no cells phones aloud at work or your fired. 

Start as a part time employee with no idea when you’ll be full-time. Management was very poor , felt very bad for the supervisors. Supervisors are easy to communicate with and have a good sense of humour. They will hire anyone part-time , you can tell by lack of experience. 

Started work early. Almost always one of the first to arrive.
Work was always busy from start to finish.
Weekly/Bi-weekly/Monthly safety meetings.
Great people to work with. Treat their employees well.

60 hrs a week. Longer hrs with 10 min notice. Pushed to work in life changing situations. Made to feel belittled if you refused dangerous situations. Such as welding in the rain while standing or laying on a metal surface while being wet yourself. 

Poor communication between divisions, ie construction and materials.
HR department provided no on boarding assistance and very little help overall once hired



Aggregate division managers do not support staff, no role specific training or mentorship provided. Expectations of working 65hrs a week on a salary based on 40hrs a week. 

Walker Aggregates is a great company if you have all time in the world and love to work. I recently had a baby and found out it’s not the place for me. Loved what I did but sadly it couldn’t work out between us and the mandatory OT.
