Waypoint Insurance

One of the worst and most stressful places I have ever worked. I was hired as a personal lines agent. Showed some videos and thrown right in with walk in customers, calls from call centre and activities given from management. I was so overwhelmed I cried everyday in my office. I told them my struggles and they wouldn’t do anything for me. I found another job, I gave them two weeks notice and a manager came in with an envelope that day saying they are letting me go now without pay. They walked me out like I was a criminal. My manager never talked to me, never told me how I was doing, never told me I was doing a good or bad job. I was totally left alone. Plus today I just noticed that not only did they let me go early after I gave them the courtesy of two weeks notice but they deducted the education they put me through off my cheque so now I can’t pay my rent. They are corporate people that do not care about the individuals well being whatsoever. 

The role offered a 4-day work week, which greatly improved work-life balance and gave me longer weekends. Compensation was excellent—strong commissions made the effort worthwhile.

A typical day was unpredictable: shifts started anywhere from 9-11 AM and could run late for dealership deliveries. I enjoyed the variety—being out in the field, interacting with excited customers, quoting policies quickly, and closing deals on the spot. 

The fast-paced dealership environment had energizing moments. However, the direct office manager was a major drawback: micromanaging and often disrespectful, which created unnecessary stress in an already variable role. Upper management, by contrast, was supportive and professional.

Overall, solid money and perks. I'd recommend it for the compensation if you can handle unpredictability and tough direct oversight.

A text book case of how a company seeks to grow without actually investing in it or the people. This does work in the short term and pleases the shareholders on paper short term, but ultimately the floor does collapse.

The firms goal is to write new business not service it later. Ideally, new business should not be be complicated or require more than a five minute call with the client to renew.  There is no back up offered. 

I found the management team lacking basic knowledge of commercial insurance risks and acutely sensitive about their weakness in that area. Say thank you to them constantly, express your admiration for their leadership and you will survive and be promoted for it. 

In short, considered this a Personal Lines brokerage with the capacity to offer Commercial Office Packages. This is not a career move I would recommend.



There has been quite a shift in the environment and culture in Waypoint over the last year. Big movement in management, They've noticed their faults are making exceptional strides to improve it. Like any good or workplace there are a few things that still need work but they have a plan in place.

For being a larger company- they try to make a smaller feeling culture within teams. 
There is lots of room for growth and work life balance is great. Lots of women within the company and diverse culture. 

For PL there is responsibility and a large client base but there is lots of markets to use and apply within. 

Learning and Development is having an overhaul with more training and making a point to increase the support. 

Been doing insurance for 15+ years. 


I enjoyed the easy work flow and it was easy to learn. I had multiple coworkers who talked bad behind others backs. Bad work/life ratio no flexibility

Waypoint Insurance has managers that micromanage, lie, and adhere to unethical behaviour. I would not recommend working at Waypoint to anyone. The pay is poor and does not equal the amount of work you are expected to complete. Do not waste your time working for this company. 

The managers don’t know what they are doing as the industry is constantly changing and they provide staff and clients with incorrect information. 

The company is changing so fast that they can't even keep up with themselves. They'd rather hire new employees than promote the ones that have been there for years. They don't care how much work you put in they will always pick out things that you have no control over to nitpick - ie another employee's performance. 

Waypoint has gone through significant changes and growth over the last couple years. I started at Waypoint in 2014 and although there was many challenges and growing pains at first, management is constantly improving processes and thet really care about their employees and clients. Definitely recommend!!

There are so many good changes happening within Waypoint right now. New management and new structures allowing work to be better overall. I have really enjoyed my time here as i am now reaching 5 years with Waypoint and the changes over the last year have been huge !!

This company does not know how to treat their employees. It's all about money and nothing else.

Unless you are desperate for a job keep moving along.

No leadership that can make a difference even though they would like to.
