West Country Hearth

West Country Hearth is a professional family atmosphere.  It is a great place to be around on a regular basis.  The staff truly care about helping others and take pride in the care for the residents in all areas of the building.  Team work is highly used and is a strong contributing factor for the success of the staff and you can tell by the lack of turn over in staff as there are many staff members that have been apart of the WCH community for over 5 years.  There are opportunities to expand and educate one self throughout the job and there are areas of growth that are encourage and welcomed. Management is very approachable in many different circumstances and generous and takes pride in helping their staff to always better themselves and to provide the best care for all residents. 

Horribly clique-y, bullying amongst staff, fighting between departments. Management does not solve problems, but instead just creates new ones. If you have a problem with management, they will not take care of the issue in a professional manner; management will instead just yell in your face and insult you. Favouritism by management is disgustingly obvious. If you’re new out of school, or are wanting to use even most of your scope, do not work here; you will lose your skills. They will fight to keep completely incompetent staff that should not be working in health care to begin with, and push out staff that are good at their jobs and care about the residents time and time again. 

The best facility I’ve worked at, I only have good things to say about this place and can never see myself leaving!
A Wage increase with cost of living raising would be nice as well but you can’t get win everything. 
The management and all your coworkers is like another little family. A little bit of awkwardness between nursing staff and house keeping but I believe that is becoming better every day! 
The Level of care for the Residents is top quality and very important at WCH, all concerns are taken seriously and effectively handled.

Management is very toxic. Positions advertised as casual were in fact not. You could be reprimanded for denying a shift even though it was stated in their policy that you could not be reprimanded as a  casual worker.

Management is the main issue. Higher-level staff was not willing to learn to communicate with staff about scheduling. Oftentimes, shifts were being missed because there was no communication of a solid work schedule. When this issue was addressed with HR it became a gossip game. 

Departments tend to be in competition with each other and the drama within departments is horrendous. 

starts your day with endorsement..then proceed to check clients safety assist /provide personal care whosoever gets up first then so on and so forth..after which accompany the client to go down for breakfast help with feeding..routine toileting every 2 hours,giving shower to whoever on the schedule.

Typical work day set up dishwasher. Making sure the food went into the hot carts. Then went to the Deminta wards set up plates, cutlery, get sink of soap ready to rinse dishes off, served, ssoup salad at supper time, main course and dessert. The took Hart carts and dirty dishes back to main kitchen was and put back in tubes and go back with washed dishes and snacks

I loved the residents and having the opportunity hear their stories and connect with them. Serving them is fulfilling. 
Communication amongst management leaves something to be desired. Things often would be unclear during the evenings/weekends when the management was not around. 


Management gets away with anything mostly. Very clique-ish among staff and departments. Good pay and good benefits. Typically staff is undervalued. Enjoyed working with the residents.

 Decent pay and very kind coworkers, yet unfortunately the management is quite poor and very inconsiderate, they all resemble the high-school cliques you tried to stay away from

Residents are awesome, employees are fun and most are upbeat and enjoyable to work with. Management takes time to listen to concerns. Great OHS committee
