What is the best part of working at the company?
I enjoy working with the people at westcon, very approachable admin and management staff. lLearn and gain to s of experience about precast and other related jobs.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
workload can be overwhelming at times and meeting deadlines. lack of protocols and or standard operating procedures and implementation of sop’s.. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Dusty and noisy work environment,  work flow and processes, such as equipment and tool handling, personnel training and certifications needs to be  proper and organized, and worker/employee accountability is lacking.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
busy and too much work to be done.

It's a satisfactory place to get precast experience... I recently quit working at Westcon Precast in St Albert after 8 years; the first 4 years were pretty good, the last 4 years, not so good. Truth be told, there may be some room for advancement in the office, but not in the plant, raises are incredibly rare, the temperature extremes in the plant are very difficult to get used to, and there were/are no incentives, work boot allowance etc. From my personal experience, Westcon was an okay place to get a bit of experience for the precast industry, and it opened the door to a much better paying job elsewhere, but that's as far as it went for me.

A friend told me that westcon was looking for people so I applied and was hired the next day. The pay wasnt great and the plant was so hot I couldnt breath but a job is a job or so I thought. I was showed a step form and was given about 10 minutes of instructions and was told to make a step. I didnt know what I was doing and nobody had time to help me so I started sweeping the floor. I did this til coffee time then went back to it after the break was over hoping a supervisor or someone would show up to explain better or help. I swept and cleaned until 11 oclock but got tired of waiting for someone to help me so I went and changed and went home. Im not sure how your supposed to learn a job when there is no one to train you so I didnt go back.

This is a small to medium size manufacturing company.  I have been with the company for more than twelve years.  I started as an accountant and currently working as a senior accountant.  I am handling the preparation of the monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.  I also handle year end schedules for annual audit/tax.  I also handle job costing on a daily basis using ACCPAC software.  In the past, I used to handle also payroll (both the plant and office), collection of receivables and recording of accounts payable.

I would like to work in a warm inviting business, where i can know i have job security and enjoy working for the company.
The hardest part of the my job is the lack of work and the employees. They are rude and not willing to teach you. There is no room for advancement as you get punished for doing your job and then them having you to learn other parts but gets mad that you are away from your desk.

Like our government nothing but a bunch of broken promises toss ya out when they finished with ya your just another number
No room for advancement ever even if you are egar to learn and stay with the company they don’t care about ya spend hundred of thousands on a heated pad but not enough lockers for there empoyeee

Mismanagement. Lack of leadership

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Low pay staff is best for Owner. It doesn't matter how good you are.

This is a great place to work if you are willing to learn. There is a lot of freedom on how to do your job but guidance when you need it. Plant foreman can be tough but it is really because safety is important.

Working on a fast phase most of the time. The work depends on how much production they make in the plant and the number of customers that are coming everyday. Can work under pressure and will be able to work for extra hours.

It is a good start to work in a concrete industry and I learn a lot of things. How to work as a team and working in a safe practice at the same time. To become productive and to develop your skills as concrete production worker.
