Western Protection Alliance

Western works mainly in the remote camps and industrial type environments. Providing various levels of security, medical and safety personnel. One of only a couple companies you can actually make security a career with. 

The company has always been very fair and always paid well.  Western has always understood that its the employees that make the company, and it shows.

I've worked security for Western since the late 90's. I've seen and experienced many amazing places thanks to my job with Western.   I've traveled across Canada with Western and will continue to do so.

The company has been nothing but fair and accommodating through my entire history with them.

I will say that the majority of Westerns staff are higher level experienced personnel.  Mainly x-police, career security and military.  If your not experienced there's a learning curve. 

Any less than great reviews would be from disgruntled x-employees who "didn't quite cut it" and are disgruntled that they lost the job.

A typical day was vehicle and and people's personal baggage searches. Lots of physical labor unloading vehicles and carrying everything in to be searched but it was the job and the pay was decent. Only one opinion mattered and that was the boss/mgr at the time whose specialty was setting co workers against each other with false rumors which created toxic environment. A professional employee could not just go in and do their job without having to be subjected to this manager in charge to talk about himself and very degrading topics and if you did not want to participate; it was the beginning of the end for your employment .
Learned I liked the job but not this company. 
The most enjoyable part of the day was talking to regulars that came on site and the lifestyle.

Excellent location and work hours, final pay structure was acceptable, as supervisor while on location I was on call 24/7, there was a high turn over for this location and for the better part of 2015 my duties included the interviewing of prospects during my off duty hours and driving new employees to the location which was 3 hours away.
Experienced a camp of over 300 employees to a mine under care and maintenance.
The hardest part of this job was the unstable conditions with the security turn over of employees and the instability of the mine, each rotation off I was not sure I was going back, this started in 2014 and in 2015 the mine claimed bankruptcy in June.

Currently work for western. Office management is great. Easy to talk too when in need. No room for drama and full on professional. If your a honest person and want to learn then I would think you found a great company. If your into high school drama and only in it for a pay check I would say this isn't the place  for you. Professional at all times and from the little time I have been working I would say a great place to build yourself and gain life experiences we all need. Remote work is not  for everyone. Be prepared to explore and be gone from friends and family.

The management are very supportive and they have your back

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Flying to and from camp. You never know when you will get home. The airlines are notorious for breaking down.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very friendly managers and coworkers. The camps and food are great. Beautiful place to work in the mountains. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Up early to drive to work. Check people in and out from site and drive back

I absolutely loved my time with WPA. Fantastic upper management who were open to new ideas and show flexibility and adaptiveness.

I learned that a group of seemingly random people can come together and form a strong and efficient team with a little bit of time and effort provided the right procedures and leaders are put into place.

Work culture was great despite the long hours. A bit of light-hearted jokes and a good attitude go a long way to keeping a teams moral up.

Could not ask for a better company to work for. I'm on my third project for WPA and the head office staff is exceptional. Working remote jobs is not easy for people with kids, but the management and administrative assistant are understanding and very helpful when  I'm away from home. Having worked in Security and First Aid for over twenty years, I have seen the pay scale difference between the major companies in Canada and WPA is definitely the highest paying and have some of the best benefits.

You are so far away from the main office, so when you need something, it takes awhile

The work environment and culture is great. Everyone is treated with respect and dignity 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A 12 shift is a long day, but some days it goes by pretty quick

I've worked with Western to provide admin support to various field projects across Canada for the past several years. My favourite part of my role is the people, both in the office and in the field. Western's field crews are second to none and I'm very grateful to have had the chance to work with such a diverse group of professionals from all over the country. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
They were great to work for. Anytime I had travel issues the office staff was there to help big time!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Just the travel lol. Flights canceled but not because of the company

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Good. Everyone got along great.
