 spent a number of years at Westwood, working most recently as a Leadhand. During my time there, I was committed to the role and tried to foster a strong team dynamic. While there were some positives — like the opportunity to lead and build experience — there were also recurring issues that made it difficult to continue in that capacity long term.

One of the more frustrating realities was the lack of transparency and fairness around compensation. In many cases, individuals in lesser roles were making more than those with higher responsibilities, which created a sense of undervaluation and division. This was never addressed meaningfully by management, despite ongoing concerns.

Additionally, management often failed to provide support, and there was a general lack of accountability or consistent communication from leadership. The work environment became demoralizing, especially when problems were brought up and not followed through on.

I hope the company takes this feedback seriously and begins to treat its employees with more respect and transparency. Westwood has potential, but it needs to invest in its people — not just its projects.


During my time employed by this company I watched them lay people off and replace them with new minimum wage employees, never calling them back.
Forced overtime, even if you have plans with family etc you are forced to work on certain weekends. If you don't you're basically put on a list of people they need to get rid of.
Management are not all bad but while I was there it was horrible dealing with them. 
The worst part of it all was seeing the quality control of the products being made. Workers don't care because management doesn't care about them. It's reflected in their product.

Overall, there were some good people working there, even some in management. However, my overall experience was not good and I moved on. I busted my butt for this company and got treated like trash.

I have worked for many companies, but none compare to the professionalism and integrity that Westwood has to offer.  Very good culture, with many long term employees.  It feels good to work in a shop that is as clean and organized as it is.  Pay is good, benefits are the best I have ever had.  There are many positive changes in this company in the time I have been here, new supervisors that support us and challenge us to do our best, a solid HR department that is always there to talk with no matter when we need it, and we are always paid on time and accurately.  There really is no better shop or work environment in the Okanagan.  I intend to spend many years here, and am more than happy to have landed a position with this outstanding company.

My stay at Westwood was brief but I felt like I made a big difference. My experience was immediately recognised and put to use and I always felt like I had the ear of management to suggest ideas. Salary was fair and all in all I was treated well. I only left for a different opportunity that would allow me to expand my skills and hone my trade.
Work hard and show up on time and you will do well.

They have a super high staff turnover so every-time you call or go in to have an issue resolved there is a new person to deal with and you have to start all over. 
The shops lead time's are unacceptable - with zero notice to clients.
Can't build anything custom, poorly scheduled so most jobs ship out incomplete.
Installers try their best to install, but not having cabinets on site results in many return trips.
Poor quality and everyone is always grumpy. 
Sales leads are given to a select few designers.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Awesome company to work for. Very understanding management. Definitely a nice place to work. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Slows down sometimes. But kinda goes with the cabinet industry. Just budget and make sure to me mindful of the slow seasons. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Family oriented. Good atmosphere 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Goes by at a decent pace. No lack of something to be done.

Don't bother unless you don't mind two faced supervisors and management. I went to work everyday, and worked hard, including 10 days where I slept at the hospital in a fold out chair to be with my kid, and yet still was at work every morning. COVID happened and I had to take time off on doctor's orders. Westwood advertised and then hired for my job, and when my leave ended and I came back to work they laid me off saying there was a work shortage. Stabbed in the back for being a good employee! Don't do it.

This place is awesome.  High quality work with excellent teams in place.  Really good set of supervisors that always do there best to make the culture and work top notch.  This shop is growing and adapting but has an excellent reputation for raising the bar.   I wouldn’t work anywhere else.   The pay is definitely above most shops.

I’ve been an employee here for years.  Been ups and downs however the ups now are head turning.  New and exciting leaders/supervisors that genuinely care about the workers.  Someone is always willing to help us make things better.  The new atmosphere here is welcoming and coming to work is something I enjoy.  Good job Westwood!

Thought this was a good place to work till I witnessed management.screaming at workers making them cry I was disgusted by their attitude. 
They had bullying trading for.staff when it should have been for the management.
HR is no help and just as bad as around you will find that most won't work for Westwood because of this.
