Working at Weyerhaeuser offered both rewarding and challenging aspects that significantly influenced my perspective on the workplace. However, certain elements raised concerns that potential employees should consider.

The work environment was characterized by an intense pressure to avoid errors. The repercussions for mistakes were severe, often resulting in termination. This heightened stress level made it difficult to perform without the constant fear of making a misstep.

Unfortunately, safety issues were prevalent and alarming. Instances of unreported safety lockouts and injuries created an unsettling atmosphere, fostering an environment where employees felt their well-being wasn't prioritized.

Regrettably, the treatment of injuries sustained during onboarding was disappointing. Instead of support and accommodation, individuals facing injuries during this crucial phase were often let go, which felt unjust and demoralizing.

One noticeable observation was the fluctuation in employee treatment based on the mill's profitability. There seemed to be a correlation between the company's financial success and the morale and treatment of the employees.

If considering a role at Weyerhaeuser, my strongest advice would be to engage in thorough discussions with current employees. Their first hand experiences and insights into the workplace dynamics can provide valuable guidance in making an informed decision about joining the team.

While there were aspects of growth and camaraderie, the prevalent issues concerning safety, treatment of injuries, and the intensity of expectations regarding mistakes should be carefully weighed before committing to employment at Weyerhaeuser.

The new production manager enjoys bullying his subordinates. He is vindictive and holds grudges anytime you question or call him out on something he is doing that isnt proper. I was served a disciplinary letter for making a worksafe claim, a claim and return to work program that management, HR, and the adjuster all agreed to. When I came back fit for work i was told if I took another sick day I would be fired. There is no advancement here. They show favoritism for the people who.act buddy buddy with the manager or shift workers, even if they aren't good at their job. I was told by supervisors and shift workers that I was doing a very good job and excelling and showing promise, but after a review of my performance with the production manager, I was told i was not a team player and not working hard enough. Despite that year working more overtime then I could ever imagine. 

You start on the call list. You are guaranteed your hours but not the days. So you may work 5 12 hour night shifts In a row before a day off. Or you may have a night shift with half a day off then a day shift. They boast about how much.easier it is for your home life but good luck ever getting a day off or vacation day that you want. You don't get to use your vacations for shut downs, you come in and do some of the worst work imaginable. Dirty and difficult.

This plant doesnt care about safety they just care about paper work and appearance of safety. They put production first. 2 associates were told to clean an area without locking out by a supervisor, and then disciplined and one fired afterward for violating a lock out

This place lures you in with a higher rate of pay and benefits and vacation, but it isnt worth dealing with the mess that this plant is.

The management doesn't know it's left arm from its right arm.  You can be fired for being hurt here.  Be prepared for bullying by management.  The head guy is a kid who hires his buddies.  Problems abound in this older, dirty mill.  Clean up just sits there.  Long hours and the overtime goes to taxes, so, not worth it.  Unless you are a total loner with no family and no friends, then this is place for you.  You will sign your life away to work long dirty days by yourself.  It takes someone to get  hurt before they put the proper signage up.  Then they act like its your fault you got hurt.  Cleaner uses Windex to clean everything.  They don't disinfect, so cold season is a nightmare here.  Weyerhaueser scabs out labor to contractors.  These lower paid scabs get no benefits and are always on call, they have been using scab labor for seven years straight now to save on costs and not pay benefits.  These scabs are well loved and will take a Weyerhaueser employees' job.  Typical non union American company that doesn't care about it's Canadian workers, only that it can get logging contracts for the cheap Canadian stumpage fees.  All American logging has to be paid for as its on private property.  Here in Canada, they just take advantage of the Crown Land.  Very corporate culture.  Just rude.

Good people to work with, training is great but the work can be hard if you have a strong work ethic, if your lazy its not bad. Pay is extremely low especially if you come from the oil patch to the mill, very hard to make a living unless you have absolutely no payments and maybe a wife working. It was nice to have a beard but they make you trim it after 4 inches lol but the best thing about working there is you're home every day and once you leave the mill there's no phone calls or Emails about your shift you just punched. It was hard getting use to 30 minute lunch break and two 15 minute breaks over a 12 hour shift because you stand most of the day and throw around green lumber. Great starting career for someone just out of high school because they have a great retirement plan, I wouldn't recommend starting there if you are in your 40's or 50's. Very safety sensitive place to work, lots of saws and moving equipment, no exceptions to lock out tag out when doing maintenance. If you don't follow rules the mill is not for you.

o	I was part of it and we had major challenges with our internal top leader and our senior leadership. Very slow progress in this area as company is protecting status quo and not embracing change

o	Very good and experienced work force, and quite few staff people with good back ground and attitude

o	for senior managers allowing "back door" approach and too often unfair judgement without consideration for root causes or simple truth.

o	by far dedicated and truly good people in this place

What is the best part of working at the company?
Yard time worked as a good unit. Lots of nice people and work was safety driven, fast paced and challenging

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Cold weather conditions could make the job quite challenging at times 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Great. Everyone’s kind and willing to give a helping hand 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Show up to work, fill out pre trip inspection forms, quick chat with cross shift and then you’re in your machine all day. The 12 hour day is broken up by three scheduled breaks every three hours.  Paid breaks and lunches.

Terrible management team. They never listen to the workers when they bring up concerns no matter how big they are. Nothing ever gets fixed properly, Just throw a bit of duct tape on and it's "fixed "
They don't discipline problem employees because they don't wanna "Hurt anyone's feelings". They preach safety over production but always brush off safety issues. 
The operators and other hourly employees bring up good suggestions to managment to try and improve the "smooth" running of the mill and managment doesn't do anything about it, they would rather let parts fail and cause hours of downtime rather then fix the problems before they fail. Preventative maintenance DOESN'T exist here.



Safety comes first with a full chance of learning different jobs onsite......it depends on how hard you work safely as a team member.....the day begins with safety and ends with safety for all workers but also working for a company that has many rewards such as appreciation and giving you opportunities.....to go forward we must make the company safe and productive to stay competitive.....would recommend this company to work for if your  a hard worker and willing to learn as you go.



This facility could be great. But due to the Core management team, this facility will suffer in the long run. The Core managers need to be better leaders and be united to make this facility great, which will never happen due to the unit manager. The Unit manager will never have what it takes to lead the facility, and many have left due to his poor management. The culture is very toxic, and the most challenging part of your job is dealing with other managers who refuse to do their job, and you have to cover. The union employees are great and work hard. It is a shame that the management is so misguided.

Coworkers are for the most part pretty decent. Company’s getting cheap with all the extras except overtime if you want it.  Good work/life balance. Home every night. Average pay for the industry. Salary employees all seem more concerned with pointing fingers and trying to look good then actually solving problem. Some very incompetent salary staff in maintenance. Upper management seems to not have a clue what’s going on in the mill and will believe anything that the supervisors tell them and assume hourly employees are lying almost treating them like lower class people. But this is all pretty common with these kind of companies.
