Winnipeg Convention Centre

For about a year, this was a regular gig through a temp agency.  I worked with the set-up crew laying out and putting away tables, chairs, stages, etc.  Typically you work a few hours then sit around for a few hours more (it's a union thing, apparently).  The work is alright - simple tasks and not too hard physically.  The problem with this place is the supervisor and another staffer are total psychos.  They yell and swear for nothing.  They give faulty instructions just so they can yell at you for doing the wrong thing.  For that year, I mostly saw it happening to others, but when it happened to me I stopped going.  Apparently, management gets a lot of complaints about the supervisor, but nothing changes.  Leaders of men, they are not.

I enjoyed working here it was hard at times but laid back too, All staff there are great. I wish I did not leave long time ago, for what I thought was better work. Pay was better but the job was not. If you like working with lots of people in a fast pace enviroment work there 
Here you where gain good communications skill as you will meet lot of different people staff, management, and guest. The hardest would be working banquets of over 500 people then it becomes fast pace.

come in for my scheduled shift, get directions to were I'm suppose to be, tie my tie, get that apron on, and put that name tag on.i've learned that i can sometimes take the lead while working. that i can stand for long periods of time. that i can carry large trays of dishes and meals. I know for a fact that the management team works very hard. they all have that don't quit attitude which makes the employees work that much more better. the hardest part of the job is trying not to break an plates or cups. the most enjoyable part was always working with different people.

Maint Eng 5th at the RBC Convention Center is a dream retirement job.  Oversee heating, cooling, lighting and fire panel for entire sight.  Lots of walking involved, some heavy lifting.  Other Maint employees generally excellent to work with.  Current facilities manager also a great boss.

The typical day at work varied in terms of hours. Management is fairly flexible with their employees. The hardest part of the job was agreeing to the shifts.  The most enjoyable part of the job? Bonding with other employees.The workplace culture lacked honest motivation to stay in the long run.

I have been in the main kitchen for 10 years.

Extremely physically demanding!!!! 8 hour shifts. Senior staff have priority when getting hours . No work usually in early spring, december and January.

the work was fast paced and always changing, learned a lot about food and really enjoyed viewing the end result, the plate its self

I enjoyed working for the convention centre, benefits, life insurance. I'm wanting to go back because I miss this position.
