A typical day I started with receiving a clear instruction, objective, and deadline for the task given or to continue the unfinished tasks. 

What I learned is how essential an objective is since it pulls all the reasons for the instructions. When an employee understands his/her instruction, the communication between issues become very effective. It helps personal growth in both the employee and the employer when the employee becomes the "ground troop who has recon mission".

My co-workers and supervisors are very flexible and understanding to each other. We are allowed to work at home, no matter because of health or other reasons. Our work is valued because of the work done and there is no bias, positively or negatively, by our physical presence. It has the best balances between trust and control.

The hardest part of the job is reading first hand how the world's hunger, warfare, and disasters had plagued the weakest youngest ones. Keep having the feeling that I can only do so much and "only if I have the money" and looking at the children's picture and knowing that they are denied the basic needs can be soul-eating.

The most enjoyable part of the job is when every time there is a church joined their congregation to support a village. Later, you see the progress and the statistics of their improvement; when you received the village thank-you messages; your sponsor child had become a self-sustaining contributing adult. Those are priceless.

Responsibilities as Team Lead Development Adviser (DA):
-	Provide leadership, mentoring and management to support strategic direction of the team 
-	 Build portfolio strategies for my own donor base (150 donors)  -  planning for strategic moves forward based on previous giving history and added research
-	 Stratify donors using the 80/20 rule to focus strategies  on appropriate donors 
-	Optimize performance objectives and results, supporting the organizational values  
-	Sets high standards and monitors compliance 
-	Ensures personal verbal and written communications are clear and convincing 
-	Acknowledges personal and team strengths and weaknesses and puts appropriate support or systems in place to ensure overall effectiveness	
-	Inspires open, trusting and cooperative networks of relationships at all levels of the organization

Responsibilities as DA:
-	Manage 450 donors at a giving level of $5k to $10k and upwards to $32k through identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding
-	Excellent relational marketing skills to promote the best possible fundraising results  
-	Increased donor base by 65 donors through prospecting and qualifying 
-	Achieved stretch goals by using MBO’s quarterly (management by objectives) 
-	Consistently reach and exceed budget goal of 1.7 M 
-	Secured 5 year gift of $250k from a donor who formally sponsored two children

I use to work at WorldVision. At first I thought what a great company, 
but when I saw that they were behind with updating their technologies and computer, I was very disappointed. And what was disappointing is they would increase their sponsor ship plan without informing their donors properly, and we would get complaints at the call centre about it. I thought, that is no way for a company that states it's Christian to be behaving, and believe me there are good Christian Charities, but this one disappointed me the most. They know how to brand themselves well, which is why everyone gives but there admin fees are way too high. 

After working there for awhile, and quitting I decided to sponsor at another charity cheaper admin fees and 95% of my donations goes directly to the programs.

The toughest part was staying positive while most were negative believe it or not, and when you tried your hardest and wanted to progress alot of backstabbing was involved. I am over that though, just wanted to tell the truth. I am not upset at the company, it has alot of potential, but most co-workers there don't want to progress and move forward so they can stand out from the competition, but do in a proper way.

This used to be the best place to work.  Staff are amazing and even though the job is stressful, we had fun every day doing what we loved.   After a major reorg in 2017, things have gone downhill.  Donations are down but instead of removing the CEO and other VPs responsible, they let go over 30 people.  Things didnt improve so in May 2019 they let go over 30 people again.  Those who were let go (for the most part) weren't the problem with the down turn.  If you have a poor sports team, you fire the manager, not the players!

There is a toxic work environment where people are afraid to express their opinions.  Preferential treatment is given to those who pander to VPs, who are not necessarily working the hardest or producing results.

Working overtime is required but not necessarily appreciated.  Years of service should be respected but are not.

More feedback needs to be elicited from those who do the actual work, not the directors/VPs.  Until a few key leaders are removed from this org, I would not recommend.

A place that challenges you to grow. The leadership displays a constant desire to improve, show transparency and hire progressive thinkers. The change in the market landscape and Covid has brought the organization through multiple restructuring and downsizing periods. It is now totally restructured as an Agile SAFE workplace for business agility. The new leadership is guiding and educating the staff in SAFE in order to equip them to rethink their roles and activities. Creative thinking and the planned implementation of new communities of practice will help mature this Agile organization. There are a lot of challenges and a lack of adequate communication on how roles and responsibilities are changing. The workplace culture favours a work/life balance and collaboration. Low turn over and highly skilled employees are a joy to work with. A stronger emphasis is placed on digital and mobile.  

Was a friendly and appreciative work place until the past 6 months. There are a lot of changes and management (at least the department I am working for) does not care and appreciate how much effort some individuals put in. All they care about is how good you are at buttering them up and whether they consider you as "friends". 

People who are advancing in the department now are the ones that are either always socializing with the managers or the ones that are somehow connected with someone within the organization/ department. It is very apparent that even if they are not qualified or below average performance are advancing in the company just because of their connections before entering the organization or the connections they built after they started working in the organization. 

Managers/ co-ordinators would cover up or look for excuses for their favourites when they mess up/ do not perform their duties. 

They expect you to follow God's teachings but they don't act Christians.

An interesting quiet working environment with good access to colleagues with whom I work in the same division as well as those from other divisions.  I love the Wednesday devotions, which brings all of us together including folks from the Ottawa office, it offers a good opportunity to know each other. 

The work environment is full of fun, which makes all the technical aspects of my job very interesting.  Coming from Africa, I have had to learn to adjust to the North America culture as well as weather. For instance, greeting by handshaking which is common in Africa in not necessarily the case in Canada; one has to plan well for winter unlike in Africa.
My job involves a lot o travel to Africa and gives me the opportunity to experience different cultures and environments.  It is shaping my response to the different encounters I go through in the office as well as in the field.

At World Vision I worked in the call-centre. Calls could be varied, questions, more or less donations on a regular basis. Sometimes some research about areas of the world, or communities we serve that donors would wish to support. I was a phone specialist, the last 2 years. It was a great place to work, and the ultimate goal was aiding families and children in developing countries. Chapel service was held weekly on Wednesdays. Many great speakers brought in for that. I learned well to assist donors with their needs. I learned not to take an angry caller personally, they just needed a little more care and time. 
The most enjoyable part of this job was the co-workers. Everyone was caring, and compassionate as it was required. The hardest part was not using a script while speaking with a caller.
I had a remote office in my home and went to the call centre a few times per month over the last 3 years.

Pros:
- some truly engaged, informed, passionate staff
- size of NGO means they have the capacity to get things done
- salaries are above-average for non-profit

Cons:
- newer CEO understands the international development landscape but lacks the human touch
- some very odd choices for newer senior leadership and VPs, one in particular whose flashy lifestyle choices seem incongruent with helping people suffering from extreme poverty
- near constant restructuring and change as the organization struggles to define itself and maintain relevance
- strong evangelical bent

It will be interesting to see where they land if and when they figure out who they are, and how they want to get there.  What they have been doing organizationally over the past 2 years is not working, and the upheavals prove that they at least have some knowledge of this fact.  The problem though is that the issues start right at the top and roll downhill, and the attempts to improve have resulted in some unsuccessful staffing decisions at senior levels.

Firstly this is a Christian charity organization with at least three 2-2 1/2 hours of dedicated time to Christian spiritual activities such as devotionals and chapel. These are normally very informal and led by team members. 

The staff are really friendly and are eager to collaborate for the most part. There are staff organize exercise activities and in facility showers so working out during lunch is possible. The culture supports working from home when required and staff performance review system is really up to date. 

My only issue is that growth opportunities are limited with the fundraising market declining and staff usually stay at the organization very long so promotion opportunities have been very limited. With increasing housing costs makes it difficult to stay at WVC if you are at a coordinator salary and are in your 30's. 

The office is extremely diverse with people from a variety of nationalities and backgrounds which allows you to learn so much about other experiences.
