I love Aerie's brand and message, so I was super excited to work there. The employees are all trained on Aerie's message as well as the typical sales training. I was trained pretty quick, as they needed me to start as soon as possible. My first week of work as a part-time sales associate I got about 34 hours of work, which was great, but after that I only got around 15 hours a week. I asked management a couple times for more hours but they give most of the hours to associates who have been there 6 months or more. Fortunately, since I had no other job, I was always free and they knew they could count on me to come in and cover someone else's shift if needed.

The managers, employees and staff are all super friendly and positive, as you kind of have to be to work in such a happy, body positive and accepting store atmosphere.

One perk of working at Aerie is that every time a new bra line is launched, all associates get one in their size for free (after doing some training on the features of the new bra) so they can have a 'personal testimony' about the product for customers. Everyone also gets 80% off one bra, undie, top, bottom, accessory and swimsuit a month, as well as 60% off an additional 8 items at both Aerie and American Eagle a month, all this on top of the regular employee discount of 40% off everything and 15% clearance. This was super nice, although they were specifically on the new floor set for the month, so employees would wear the new products while working on the floor and outside the store to advertise and show off. They would also have contests for employees where if you sold 10 bras or signed 10 people up for the loyalty program, you were entered into a daily draw for a free product.

One of the only things I didn't like was that the managers were super pushy about signing people up for the loyalty program while working on cash. They can even go into your employee account (you sign in every time you use the cash register so your transactions are saved with your employee ID) and check what percentage of transactions you either scanned a loyalty card or signed someone up for an account.

Customers were all super friendly and sweet, since most of the people who shop there are either younger women, moms with daughters, or people who love Aerie's brand message of body equality and representation in media.

Overall, I loved working for Aerie and I definitely recommend applying if you want to work there!

Management is horrible! First of all, it took two weeks after being hired to actually begin training. Things that management said were very inconsistent. For example, training was supposedly done only on weekdays but I got scheduled to train on the weekend. Also, I was told that I could be given a certain amount of hours but was later told that I’d really be working only weekends when discussing the original availability I gave when I applied for the job.   I was told that I was supposed to have worked for a shift but I was never notified nor contacted (I wasn’t even on the scheduling system yet) so I had no way of knowing this. When I had told management about this, I never received a reply. They stopped scheduling me and eventually terminated my employment without any form of notice. I really do not recommend working here unless you want to waste your time waiting to get shifts when you could already be working at another job with better management, hours, and where employees are actually treated well.

This workplace felt mostly welcoming, and I enjoyed helping customers. However, my primary concern with this location is the unfairness that I witnessed in assigning daily roles and responsibilities. I frequently observed the same associates being placed in the same zones across multiple shifts. Tasks such as operating the cash register, tagging clothing and obtaining customer pick-up orders are not  "talents" but basic functions that should be part of standard training for every single employee. This created an imbalance in workload and limited development opportunities for the rest of the team, which made them feel discouraged. 

A typical day at work is full of doing tedious tasks and getting mistreated by customers for reasoning that all has to do with head office, not front-end employees.

I was close with some co-workers, which was completely frowned upon by my manager and once they quit work was painful and very bad on my mental health. 
I believe I was underpaid for my work. Some nights I would be there until 4am during floorset when I was only scheduled until midnight. 
The most enjoyable part of the job was the freebies that came with the job for reaching sales goals.

The manager over-hired drastically, which meant there were little to no shifts to go around, especially after all four managers got their fill. As someone who helped set up the store when it first opened in August of 2016, I thought I would get more shifts then the girls who were just hired. The manager was catty and unorganized, forgot I worked there and did not give me any shifts for three months. The other sales associates are truly lovely girls, always ready with kind words and compliments. Aerie is an amazing company to work for, but the Barrie manager is not.

I really did not enjoy my experience working at Aerie. The management team was terrible at communicating with the staff. I was hired for sales and was suddenly changed to stock without being informed at all. The training was terrible, and you were thrown in expecting to be great with absolutely no guidance. Scheduling was awful, I was given very sparse shifts and received no communication from management as to why and no feedback to my performance. Overall a terrible job and waste of my time.

Typical day at work consists of greeting customers as they walk into the store and selling them comfortable bra's.
I learned how to do proper size fittings for women,
Management was always around and very helpful making sure everyone was comfortable.
All the co-workers were very high spirit girls full of life, they were amazing hard working girls.
Hardest part of the job was remembering all the different styles and names of the bra's.
I enjoyed working with the staff.

I had a terrible experience working as a sales associate/brand ambassador at the Aerie. The management and scheduling was absolutely horrible, as I, and other part time employees barely got any shifts, we were overstaffed and had our shifts cut short or completely without a day's notice, and when given shifts, they usually wouldn't surpass 4 hours.

managing fitting rooms, assisting customers with clothing sizes, tidying up stock room.
Not many co-workers per shift but friendly young ladies nonetheless.
Hardest Part of job: Inventory for new stock.
Most enjoyable part of day: Displaying new merchandise.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time working at Aerie. I felt respected, valued, and I liked all of my managers. The customers were even fantastic. I was worried about working with only girls, but it was one of the most enjoyable jobs I have ever had. They were super flexible with my university schedule and they give a great discount. I would recommend anyone to work here!
