Poor leadership from top to bottom. The few player that do exhibit proper leadership practices to too far down the totem pole to have any real effect.Decent benefits and the job security is solid as long as you have the seniority. Very prominent and ever present focus on production. The hardest part of the job is showing up as there isn't anything about it that I'd consider difficult. The most enjoyable part of the job is the interactions with other employees, however even that is negligible when compared to the sheer joy that is not being there in the first place. The definitive example of the old tenant that "work is work and not meant to be enjoyed".

Typical day at work is unpredictable. Skills in safety can save your life. Management hardly listens to its workers. Co-workers can be good to work with. Hardest part of the job is knowing what to do in certain situations. The most enjoyable part of the job is knowing that your making decent money to bring home to the family.

Steady millwright work and are respected for being a millwright. Wages are fair and so is pension benefits. Fast paced sawmill environment. Once you learn the mill things slow down  and become second nature.

I stated out on the Clean up Crew a few years back. I went from bing on the clean-up crew to fire watch and so on. I worked my way up to become a bobcat operator and forklift operator. I eventually got moved onto the Union Production Line. Aspen Planer was a great job with great benefits.

Sawmill environment! Loud dangerous “keeps you on your toes” but fun. Maintenance boss is great! Good tradesmen to work with. Most supervisors are easy to deal with. If you can do 2 things (show up on time and keep the mill running) you will be just fine!

Run as fast as you can. This is a great company but the management is evil and rotten. They put company before workers. Proven more than once. If you want full time work with a good environment look elsewhere. More lay offs than work. Again....RUN

Aspen wasn't much of a job I enjoyed, the management could have been better. The boss's were varied when being in a good mood. The co workers were good helped out. Hardest part of the job is working alone. Most enjoyable part was being in an environment of friends.

overall rating 4 out of 5 stars. Very few holidays each year. Pay is borderline. Management is easy to get along with. Its a typical small sawmill where you never know if you will have a job Monday morning

Very old mill, equipment doesn't work very good, nothing gets replaced! Very good salary! Forced to work statuary holidays for straight time! Always trying to call you in on your days off!

Good place to work but they have no wood to run. I worked there for 6 years. The first 3 years had lots of work and friendly coworkers. The last 3 years has seen a dramatic reduction in 2 full shifts. Now it's barely 1 shift.
