Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Instructor for Professional Development Business Management (PD403) to deliver course content focused on business practices, administration, and professional operations within the massage therapy industry. The successful candidate will educate students on essential business management principles, including practice planning, operations, record-keeping, financial management, professional collaboration, marketing, billing procedures, and healthcare business administration. The instructor will support students in developing the knowledge and skills required to establish and manage a successful massage therapy practice.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in healthcare administration, business management, or a related healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of massage therapy clinic operations, healthcare business practices, or allied health administration.
- Understanding of accounting, bookkeeping, billing procedures, and healthcare documentation.
- Strong knowledge of professional communication, record keeping, and business planning principles.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and instructional skills.
- Ability to engage and support students in a classroom environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting or managing massage therapy clinics, rehabilitation clinics, wellness centres, or allied healthcare practices.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations, professional standards, and professional associations in British Columbia.
- Experience developing business plans, operational strategies, and service improvement initiatives.
- Previous teaching, mentoring, or adult education experience.
- Knowledge of third-party insurance billing processes and healthcare documentation requirements.
- Experience working with healthcare professionals and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging in-person instruction for the PD403 Professional Development Business Management course.
- Teach students best practices related to planning, creating, and operating a massage therapy business.
- Provide instruction on business structures, including proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations within healthcare practices.
- Teach principles of personal management, time management, scheduling, marketing, promotion, and advertising.
- Guide students in developing business plans for massage therapy practices.
- Provide instruction on accounting, bookkeeping, financial documentation, taxation requirements, and liability considerations.
- Teach proper record keeping, documentation standards, and clinic form management.
- Educate students on billing procedures, third-party insurers, and extended healthcare claims processes.
- Discuss the role of professional associations, regulatory expectations, and collaboration with allied healthcare professionals.
- Support students in developing professional communication skills, including medical-legal report writing.
- Assess student learning through assignments, discussions, and practical business planning activities.
Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
