We are currently recruiting for a Senior Buyer to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. This is a full-time position.
As a senior procurement professional, you will manage the procurement of complex engineered and non-engineered materials and equipment in support of major projects and corporate initiatives. You will apply advanced technical expertise, commercial judgment, and market knowledge to develop sourcing strategies, negotiate commercial agreements, manage supplier relationships, and mitigate procurement risk. You will also serve as a trusted advisor to project teams and stakeholders, providing guidance on procurement best practices and contributing to successful project delivery.
- Manage the end-to-end procurement of complex engineered and non-engineered materials and equipment for major capital projects.
- Develop and execute procurement strategies that optimize commercial outcomes while balancing cost, quality, schedule, and risk.
- Lead commercial evaluations, supplier negotiations, and contract award recommendations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, engineering teams, project management, and other key stakeholders.
- Identify procurement risks, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively resolve commercial and supply chain issues.
- Provide procurement expertise throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Analyze market conditions, supplier capabilities, and industry trends to support informed sourcing decisions.
- Mentor junior procurement professionals and provide technical guidance on complex procurement activities when required.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance procurement processes, supplier performance, and project outcomes.
- Typically 7+ years of progressive procurement experience, preferably supporting engineering, energy, industrial, or major capital projects.
- Demonstrated experience procuring complex engineered equipment and materials.
- Strong commercial acumen with advanced negotiation and contract management skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering results in a fast-paced project environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and build credibility across all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Advanced understanding of procurement systems, processes, and industry best practices.
- Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other procurement professionals is considered an asset.
- University degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Commerce, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
