Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Shop Supervisor / Lead CNC Machinist to oversee daily manufacturing operations and lead our machining team. Duties
- Supervise daily shop floor activities, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to safety protocols
- Lead CNC machining operations on equipment such as CNC lathes and CNC milling machines, maintaining high standards of quality
- Program, set up, and operate CNC machines using Fanuc controls, optimizing machining parameters for efficiency and precision
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models created in SolidWorks or other CAD software to produce accurate parts
- Conduct routine inspections using calipers, hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to verify dimensions and quality standards
- Train and mentor team members on CNC programming, machine operation, maintenance procedures, and safety practices
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, improve productivity, and streamline processes
- Maintain accurate documentation of production activities, machine logs, and inspection reports
Skills
- Proven experience as a CNC machinist with strong mechanical knowledge of machining processes
- Proficiency in CNC programming with Fanuc controls; ability to troubleshoot and modify programs as needed
- Skilled in reading blueprints and technical drawings; familiar with SolidWorks and CAD software for part design interpretation
- Familiarity with manufacturing best practices including lean manufacturing principles
- Ability to use precision measuring tools such as calipers for quality control checks
- Knowledge of CNC lathe and CNC milling machine operations; experience with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and assembly techniques
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise a team effectively while maintaining a safe work environment
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machining parameters
- Experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment is a plus
