The Opportunity
The Assistant General Manager is a key member of the leadership team and plays a critical role in the day-to-day success of the business. This role mirrors many of the responsibilities of a General Manager and is ideal for an experienced hospitality operator looking to take the next step in their leadership career.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving guest satisfaction, supporting financial performance, leading the front-of-house team and ensuring the restaurant consistently delivers prompt service, quality food and well-executed beverages.
This is a hands-on leadership role that requires a strong presence on the floor, attention to detail and the ability to build a culture focused on hospitality and accountability.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Guest Experience Leadership
- Champion an exceptional guest experience every shift.
- Ensure prompt, attentive and genuine hospitality throughout the guest's journey.
- Maintain high standards for food quality, beverage execution, cleanliness and atmosphere.
- Respond to guest feedback and service recovery opportunities quickly and professionally.
- Lead by example on the floor and coach service standards in real time.
Operational Leadership
- Support all day-to-day restaurant operations alongside the General Manager.
- Lead service periods and provide direction to front-of-house teams during high-volume periods.
- Ensure all opening, closing and shift routines are completed consistently.
- Maintain and uphold company systems, standards and operational procedures.
- Support implementation of new initiatives and process improvements.
Financial Performance
- Assist in managing labour costs through effective scheduling, deployment and shift management.
- Monitor daily sales performance and labour productivity.
- Support budgeting and financial planning initiatives.
- Drive sales while maintaining disciplined cost controls.
Inventory & Controls
- Manage liquor, wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverage inventories.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through regular counts and variance reviews.
- Ensure ordering aligns with business levels and sales trends.
- Support beverage cost management and waste reduction initiatives.
- Maintain strong receiving, storage, rotation and inventory practices.
People Leadership
- Recruit, train, coach and develop front-of-house team members.
- Build a positive and accountable culture focused on teamwork and hospitality.
- Conduct ongoing coaching and performance conversations.
- Recognize and celebrate team successes while addressing opportunities for improvement.
- Support succession planning and leadership development within the restaurant.

Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant environment.
- Previous experience as an Assistant General Manager, Restaurant Manager, Bar Manager or Senior Front-of-House Leader preferred.
- Strong understanding of labour management and scheduling practices.
- Experience managing liquor, wine and beer inventory programs.
- Knowledge of beverage costing and inventory controls considered an asset.
- Strong communication and people leadership skills.
- ProServe certification required.
- Available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required by the business.
