Kobayashi + Zedda Architects Ltd. is Whitehorse, Yukon-based architecture, urban design, project management, and development company seeking out a talented individual to join our growing multi-disciplinary design studio with current projects in all three of Canada's northern Territories, and northern British Columbia and Alberta. With an office of 18 staff, Kobayashi + Zedda is the largest building design and development firm based in northern Canada.
The ideal person will have a min. of 3 years of architectural technical work experience with wood and steel frame construction, drafting and technical review of documents, coordination of engineering and design related professionals, and contract administration during construction.
An intimate knowledge of AutoCAD, BIM, REVIT, and SketchUp software is a requirement as is a keen understanding of design, construction detailing, construction documents, and consultant team coordination.

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Architectural Technologist to join our design team. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a passion for architecture, and experience in drafting and project management. This role involves translating conceptual designs into detailed construction documents, supporting project development from inception to completion, and collaborating with architects and engineers to ensure design integrity and compliance with building codes. The Architectural Technologist will play a vital role in delivering high-quality architectural solutions that meet client needs and industry standards.
Duties
- Develop detailed architectural drawings and construction documents using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Rhinoceros 3D.
- Create 3D models and visualizations utilizing SketchUp, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite to support design presentations.
- Assist in the preparation of design proposals, technical reports, and material specifications.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to coordinate project details and resolve technical issues.
- Support project management tasks including scheduling, document control, and client communication.
- Ensure all drawings adhere to local building codes, zoning laws, and safety regulations.
- Participate in site visits to review construction progress and verify compliance with design intent.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation for efficient workflow.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with CAD software including AutoCAD, Revit, Rhinoceros 3D, and SketchUp.
- Strong proficiency in drafting, technical detailing, and construction documentation.
- Knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and construction processes.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite for presentation purposes is a plus.
- Background in architecture or construction with relevant education or certification preferred.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Prior experience in construction or related fields is advantageous but not mandatory.

Pay: $80,000.00-$90,564.67 per year
