Grocery Retail Price Controller

Job Summary
The Grocery Retail Price Controller is responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely pricing across the grocery store. This role supports pricing integrity by managing price updates, maintaining system and label accuracy, monitoring promotional pricing, and investigating pricing discrepancies to ensure customers are charged correctly. This also includes ESL (electronic shelf label) maintenance and signage maintenance
Key responsibilities:
Price Management & Updates
Maintain and update pricing in the store system according to company pricing schedules and directives.
Ensure promotional pricing, clearance prices, and temporary offers are correctly applied and removed on time.
Verify that shelf-edge labels, digital signage, and other customer-facing price displays reflect approved prices.
Monitor ESL (electronic shelf label) user interface for ESL updates, integrity and battery life, replacing as required.
Manage ESL inventory on hand and place orders according to lead times.
Accuracy & Compliance
Monitor for price discrepancies between shelf labels, POS entries, and system pricing with Front End manager.
Ensure compliance with relevant retail pricing rules, company policies, and any applicable consumer protection requirements.
Maintain audit-ready documentation of price changes and approvals (where required).
Monitoring & Issue Resolution
Investigate and resolve pricing errors (e.g., incorrect barcode pricing, mismatched label pricing, failed updates).
Track recurring pricing issues and recommend corrective actions to reduce errors.
Coordinate with store management, procurement/merchandising teams, and IT/support (as applicable).
Promotions Support
Support promotional rollouts by confirming price setup accuracy ahead of launch.
Ensure promo mechanics (e.g., bundle pricing, “buy one get one,” multi-buy offers) are correctly configured and communicated.
Data Handling & Reporting
Maintain logs/spreadsheets of price changes, incidents, and resolutions.
Produce periodic reports on pricing accuracy, audit findings, and operational readiness for promotions.
Required Qualifications
Experience in retail operations, merchandising, pricing, inventory control, or a similar administrative role (preferred).
Strong attention to detail and high accuracy with numbers.
Basic proficiency with retail pricing/POS systems and spreadsheets (Excel or similar).
Ability to follow pricing policies, deadlines, and documentation requirements.

Occasional lifting of light retail items or price-label materials.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
Familiarity with barcode systems, item setup, and shelf-labeling processes.
Experience with retail pricing governance, audits, or inventory/stock systems.
Knowledge of promotional mechanics and markdown/clearance procedures.
