Job Summary
Journeyman Electrician
We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician with a minimum of five (5) years of post-certification experience to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of residential and commercial electrical systems while ensuring all work complies with applicable electrical codes and safety standards.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing and commissioning solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including grid-tied, battery backup, off-grid, and hybrid energy systems. Experience with energy storage systems, inverters, and system troubleshooting is essential. Candidates should be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
Qualifications:
- Journeyman Electrician certification.
- Minimum 5 years of electrical installation experience.
- Proven experience with grid-tied, off-grid, hybrid, and battery backup solar PV systems.
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and safe work practices.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Duties
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems in industrial, commercial, and renovation settings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to execute electrical work accurately.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to perform installations and repairs efficiently.
- Assist in renovation projects by upgrading existing electrical systems or installing new wiring infrastructure.
- Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and team members.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other tradespeople to complete projects on time and within scope.
- Perform routine inspections of electrical systems to identify potential issues before they escalate.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed for compliance and future reference.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a licensed Journeyman/Woman Electrician with industrial electrician background preferred.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, low voltage wiring.
- Construction experience with a focus on electrical installation and renovation projects.
- Familiarity with schematics related to industrial systems and automation controls.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately and work from detailed instructions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with attention to detail.
- Valid electrician license or certification as required by local regulations.
- Handyman experience is a plus for versatile troubleshooting skills.
