Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Transport freight efficiently from origin to destination, ensuring timely deliveries.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Load and unload freight using equipment such as forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo.
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, mileage logs, and inspection reports.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and clients to coordinate delivery schedules.
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to keep trucks in optimal condition.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial driving, especially long-haul routes.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation including forklifts and other loading machinery.
- Ability to perform basic automotive repairs and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
- Familiarity with freight handling procedures and safety protocols.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation and inspections.
- Physical ability to load/unload freight, operate heavy equipment, and perform vehicle inspections regularly.
