As a Technical Writer, Quality Assurance and Accreditation with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

Support Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) in meeting and sustaining compliance with external assurance and accreditation programs, including Accreditation Canada and other regulatory or certification bodies.

Work and partner with organizational, clinical and quality leadership, this role is responsible for the development, coordination, and standardization of documentation required across the organization’s quality assurance programs.

Ensure that evidence, procedures, and supporting materials are clear, accurate, and aligned with external standards, while supporting a shift toward continuous quality improvement and ongoing readiness for accreditation activities.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Accreditation & Assurance Program Support
-
Coordinate and support documentation requirements for accreditation processes (e.g., Accreditation Canada).

Work with clinical, operational, regional programs, and corporate teams to compile and validate evidence for Required Organizational Practices (ROPs) and standards.

Support readiness activities including submission packages, regional program documentation and unmet follow-up documentation.

Assist in tracking documentation gaps and coordinate follow-up with responsible teams.
2. Documentation Development & Standardization

Develop, edit, and maintain high-quality documentation (e.g., evidence summaries, self-assessment reports, narratives).

Translate complex clinical, operational, and regulatory requirements into clear, concise, and accessible documentation.

Ensure consistency in format, terminology, and structure across all accreditation and assurance materials.
-
Establish templates, style guides, and documentation standards for organization-wide use.
3. Partnership, Engagement & Collaboration
-
Partner with clinical leaders, quality teams, program managers, and subject matter experts to gather and synthesize information.

Facilitate working sessions to develop or refine documentation.
-
Provide guidance and coaching to teams on documentation expectations and best practices.
4. Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
-
Support the transition from episodic accreditation preparation to continuous readiness and quality improvement.
-
Review documentation to ensure alignment with current standards, evidence-based practice, and organizational policies.

Identify opportunities to improve documentation processes, workflows, and governance.
5. Information Management & Governance
-
Maintain organized repositories of accreditation and assurance documentation.
-
Ensure version control, document traceability, and audit readiness.
-
Contribute to governance structures supporting quality assurance and accreditation activities.
6. Reporting & Communication
-
Develop briefing materials, summaries, and reports for leadership and accreditation bodies.

Support preparation of executive-level materials related to accreditation status and readiness.
-
Communicate progress on documentation deliverables and highlight risks or gaps.
-
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements. Immediately reports unsafe situations by notifying supervisor or other appropriate personnel.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Communications, Public Administration, or a related field, supplemented with five or more years of experience in technical writing, preferably in healthcare, quality, or regulatory environments or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Experience supporting accreditation, certification, or regulatory compliance initiatives (e.g., Accreditation Canada) is preferred.

Experience working in complex health systems or large organizations is an asset.
Knowledge & Abilities

Strong writing, editing, and document design skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Ability to interpret, synthesize and translate complex clinical and operational information and standards into clear and actionable documentation.

Knowledge of healthcare quality frameworks, accreditation standards, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and indigenous lens.

Practices the recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement, with an understanding of the issues faced by people from equity-deserving groups.

Demonstrated ability to interpret standards and translate them into action.
