Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Shipper/Receiver to join our metal manufacturing team. The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for receiving incoming materials, inspecting shipments, preparing and packaging finished products, and coordinating outbound deliveries. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate inventory, ensuring materials are handled safely, and helping production and shipping operations run efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive incoming raw materials, components, supplies, and finished goods.
- Verify shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and other documentation.
- Inspect incoming materials for quantity, quality, and visible damage, and report discrepancies.
- Safely unload and move materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
- Prepare, package, label, and secure finished products for shipment according to customer and carrier requirements.
- Coordinate outgoing shipments with freight carriers, couriers, and customers as required.
- Complete shipping and receiving paperwork, bills of lading, packing slips, and other required documentation accurately.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure materials are properly identified and stored.
- Organize the shipping and receiving areas to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workplace.
- Ensure products and materials are handled carefully to prevent damage.
- Work closely with production, purchasing, and management to coordinate material flow and shipping schedules.
- Follow all company safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques and safe equipment operation.
- Perform other warehouse, material-handling, and general duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehousing, or a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Experience working in a metal manufacturing or fabrication shop is an asset.
- Forklift experience and certification is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand shipping documents, packing slips, and purchase orders.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to safely lift and move materials and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Comfortable working around metal products, machinery, and industrial equipment.
- Basic computer skills for inventory and shipping systems.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to workplace safety.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed primarily in a metal manufacturing and warehouse environment.
- Regular standing, walking, bending, lifting, and material handling is required.
- Must be comfortable working around forklifts, cranes, metal products, and manufacturing equipment.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
- Occasional overtime may be required to meet production and shipping deadlines.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move materials as required for the position.
- Ability to safely handle metal parts and products of various sizes and weights.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work safely in an industrial environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour
