ABOUT THE POSITION
Nahanni Construction Ltd. is accepting resumes for Field Engineer to work on various Northern Projects and other locations. The successful candidates will work on a rotational schedule, based in a remote work camp environment. Travel to and from the project site is paid for and booked by Nahanni.
Compensation dependent on experience; position includes comprehensive benefits package and rotational allowance.
SCOPE
- Assist in the preparation of Field Installation Work Packages and work plans;
- Assist Superintendent and Foreman with workforce planning according to the project schedule;
- Review of all project documents for constructability and content, including shop drawings and initiate appropriate corrective actions; communicate specifications to Superintendent and Foreman
- Maintain a document control system for project drawings, inspection reports, requests for information (RFI’s) and site instructions (SI’s);
- Ensure compliance with project quality standards, specifications, and internal procedures;
- Complete material takeoffs from drawings, specifications and other project documents;
- Prepare RFI requests; submit to responsible client representative and ensure a response is received under PM supervision;
- Maintain the Project schedule, construction progress tracker and provide reports;
- Provide technical field support and assist in the interpretation of construction codes and standards;
- Ensure Civil, Structural and Concrete ITP stages are followed and complied;
- Assist the Superintendent in the coordination of concrete foundation activities;
- Perform field inspection to ensure work conforms with project drawing, specification, details and shop drawings;
- Assist Project Manager with preparing project deliverables;
- Prepare monthly project quality report and review reports with Project Manager;
- Assist in the development and implementation of turnover package procedures; assist in assembling turnover packages to the client;
- Monitor formwork, rebar and concrete pour activities and conduct final inspection to ensure compliance with scope, contract plans and specifications. Identify deficiencies and necessary corrective action, if applicable;
- Work collaboratively with Project Manager, project team members, and field staff;
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports;
- Develop and maintain ITPs, ensuring compliance throughout the multi-discipline project.
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree/Diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years Field Engineering within Construction Industry, preferably Industrial Construction.
- Previous experience in structural concrete foundation construction is an asset.
- Experience in working within an EPC for industrial construction is an asset.
- Previous experience working on remote or industrial sites (mining, process plants or other industrial projects) is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with civil, concrete, and/or structural construction quality control processes.
- Ability to read and interpret civil, structural and concrete engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Proficiency in QA/QC documentation, reporting, and record-keeping systems.
- Working knowledge with 3D applications and MS Project.
- Ability and desire to work in remote locations and maintain a positive attitude.
