Job Overview
We are seeking a vigilant and responsible Traffic Controller to ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians at construction sites and roadwork areas. This role is vital in maintaining safety protocols, directing traffic flow, and supporting construction operations. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in dynamic outdoor environments. Prior experience with heavy equipment operation, paving, or construction is a plus but not required.
Responsibilities
- Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic around construction zones or roadwork sites using hand signals, signs, or flagging devices.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and traffic control plans to prevent accidents and facilitate smooth traffic flow.
- Set up and dismantle traffic control devices such as cones, barriers, signs, and flagging stations.
- Communicate effectively with construction teams, drivers, and pedestrians to provide clear instructions and updates.
- Monitor the work zone for potential hazards or unsafe behaviors and report issues promptly.
- Assist with related tasks such as heavy equipment operation or paving support as needed.
Requirements
- Strong attention to safety protocols and traffic control procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain alert in outdoor environments for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks such as setting up traffic control devices.
- Valid certification or training in traffic control or flagging is preferred but not required.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.25-$22.00 per hour
