About the Position
Position Title: LINC CNC Educator
Job Type: Part Time- 14 hours per week (Monday-Thursday; 5:45 p.m. - 9:15 p.m.)
Department: Languages
Reports to: Senior Coordinator, Languages & Childminding
Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, Languages and Childminding, the CNC Educator provides professional care and supervision for newcomer children under the guidance of the Lead CNC Educator. The role involves creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment; supervising daily activities; maintaining records; communicating with families; and ensuring compliance with licensing requirements, organizational policies, and safety standards. Working collaboratively with supervisors, parents, and colleagues, the CNC Educator supports the delivery of high-quality childminding services and positive outcomes for children and families.
Child Supervision and Safety

Supervise children at all times to ensure a safe, secure and nurturing environment and prepare childminding rooms before arrival and maintain a clean, organized and hazard-free space

Monitor entrances and exits, ensuring doors remain locked and children are signed in and out properly

Conduct regular headcounts and monitor children's health, behavior and well-being

Document accidents, incidents, illnesses, and other required reports and communicate concerns to parents and supervisors

Recognize and respond appropriately to signs of illness, injury, abuse or safety concerns
-
Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities that support children's learning and development
-
Encourage positive behavior through redirection, praise, cooperative play, and clear expectations
-
Promote inclusive programming that respects children's cultural backgrounds, values, and individual needs
-
Serve as a positive role model and foster respectful interactions among children
-
Maintain activity plans, meal plans, daily records, and fire drill documentation
-
Behaviors not permitted: physical punishment; verbal abuse); withdrawing from or depriving a child of a basic need; isolating or confining a child.

Greet parents and guardians professionally during drop-off and pick-up times

Provide orientation to new families and explain childminding procedures and policies

Maintain open communication with families regarding children's needs, activities, and well-being

Respect and support diverse family traditions, cultures, and childcare practices

Maintain accurate child records, attendance logs, health information, and program documentation

Open, update, and close child files as required, including contact and immunization information

Prepare and submit monthly reports and other administrative documentation

Review internal communications, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with program standards

Inspect, maintain, and organize toys, equipment, and childminding resources
-
Share housekeeping responsibilities, including sanitizing materials and disposing of waste appropriately

Ensure compliance with licensing regulations, organizational policies, and childminding procedures
-
Support program operations by working at multiple locations and performing additional duties assigned by supervisors

Experience working with non-profit organizations is an asset

Minimum Level 1/childcare assistant certificate

At least 1 year of childcare working experience

English Level Proficiency

Valid first-aid certificate

Clear police check with vulnerable sector check within 6 months prior to employment

Valid food safety certificate
-
Valid Tetanus and Diphtheria Vaccination

Valid clear Tuberculosis test result
The ideal candidate:

Working towards or completed post-secondary education in Early Childhood Education or a related field

Ability to apply theoretical knowledge in the childcare setting

Demonstrates ability to apply knowledge to practice

Previous experience in childcare, childminding, or non-profit environments is an asset
-
Experience working with newcomer or diverse populations is an asset
-
Combination of active childcare duties and light administrative tasks in classroom, childminding, and office settings
-
Requires continuous supervision of children in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
-
Regular physical activity including standing, movement, and participation in children’s activities
-
Occasional lifting, including reorganizing storage bins or shelving items, setting up/packing gym or play equipment, carrying groceries or program materials, moving boxes of toys or supplies

Strong multitasking, communication, and patience required in daily interactions
-
Flexibility required to adapt to changing program needs, schedules, and staffing demands
-
May require travel between program locations as needed
