We are seeking permanent part-time Dog Handlers/ Kennel Assistants to join our team! You will be responsible for the overall care and well-being of the animals at our facility, along with their exercise, training, feeding and general facility cleaning.
We have part-time evening and weekend shifts available. Weekend shifts are 7 am to 1 pm OR 3 pm to 9:30 pm. Weekday shifts are from 4:00 pm to 9:30 pm.
All staff members must have a reliable method of transportation as public transit is not available in our area.
Responsibilities:
- Exercising the dogs both mentally and physically, including structured daily walks, group/pack activities, treadmill sessions, basic grooming, obedience, and individual attention.
- Confidently walking dogs using a variety of training tools.
- Supervising dogs.
- Feeding as per owner instructions.
- Maintaining client relations through detailed and friendly check ins/outs.
- Taking daily pictures of the dogs and uploading them to our private staff page.
- Cleaning of the facilities, kennel units and exercise areas.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in animal care is an asset
- Passion for animal care and a desire to learn new dog care and training skills
- Ability to confidently interact with dogs of all breeds, temperaments, ages and sizes
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Ability to perform all job duties to a high standard in a safe and responsible manner
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to be on one's feet and walking for several hours in a day
- Ability to lift dogs and items of up to 50 lbs
