Role Description
The Protein Purchaser is a full-time, on-site role based in Canada, responsible for sourcing and purchasing meat and protein products for World Meats Inc. This role manages supplier relationships, negotiates pricing and terms, and monitors market trends to ensure competitive costs and reliable supply. Day-to-day tasks include forecasting product needs, placing and tracking purchase orders, coordinating deliveries with operations, and resolving discrepancies with vendors. The Protein Purchaser works closely with sales, inventory, and logistics teams to maintain optimal stock levels, uphold quality standards, and support the company’s service commitments to its foodservice clients. The role also involves reviewing product performance, identifying new sourcing opportunities, and contributing to continuous improvement in purchasing processes.
Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related field
- Experience in procurement or purchasing, preferably in meat, protein, or broader foodservice supply (2-5 years).
- Knowledge of meat and protein products, including cuts, grades, specifications, and food safety requirements.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to interpret pricing, contracts, and market data.
- Proficiency with inventory management and purchasing systems, as well as common office software (e.g., Excel, ERP tools).
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with suppliers, internal teams, and operations staff.
- High attention to detail, accuracy in documentation, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in the Canadian foodservice or distribution sector is an asset; familiarity with GTA market conditions is beneficial.
- Relevant post-secondary education in business, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
