About the role.
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the wastewater treatment facility. Reporting to the Environmental Supervisor, this role works cross-functionally with production, maintenance, and environmental teams to maintain compliance, minimize operational disruptions, and drive continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.
This position includes two temporary 6-month opportunities:

Role 1: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM, 5 days per week with rotating weekend coverage

Role 2: 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 4:00 PM – 2:00 AM, 5 days per week
What you’ll be doing.

Operate and monitor the wastewater treatment plant to ensure safe and efficient performance

Monitor FactoryTalk systems continuously, respond to alarms, and take corrective actions as needed

Coordinate with hauling contractors for waste removal activities

Partner with production and maintenance teams to minimize plant disruptions

Maintain housekeeping standards in laboratory and operational areas

Communicate emergency or urgent repair needs clearly and effectively

Participate in team discussions and contribute to operational decision-making

Follow GMPs, safety standards, and HACCP Best Operating Procedures

Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety and environmental compliance

Perform additional duties as assigned by the WWTP Lead Hand
What you’ll need to be successful.

High school diploma or equivalent (GED required)
-
Experience in wastewater treatment operations, process line operations, or laboratory analysis (considered an asset)

Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Excel and FactoryTalk systems

Valid Class 1 Driver’s License

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within a team

Strong attention to detail with a sense of urgency

Flexibility to work various shift schedules, including coverage for vacations and leaves

This role is part of the Environmental and Plant Operations team and collaborates closely with production, maintenance, and environmental professionals. The team is focused on maintaining environmental compliance, optimizing plant performance, and fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the facility.

Compensation Package: - Starting at 27.41 CAD hourly + Hourly Pay Differential for applicable shifts
