JC Légal Inc. est un cabinet d’avocats basé à Iqaluit, au Nunavut, qui étend maintenant ses activités au Québec. Ayant servi plus de 300 clients comprenant des particuliers, PME, cabinets d’avocats et organismes publics, nous offrons des services juridiques généraux principalement en droit immobilier, successoral, fiscal, en litige civil, droit du travail, contrats et testaments. Nous sommes fiers d’être le seul cabinet bilingue ayant une présence physique au Nunavut et un bureau à Brossard et Verdun.

Nous recherchons une personne dynamique, débrouillarde et motivée, souhaitant faire une différence dans la communauté, pour se joindre à notre équipe en tant que parajuriste cumulant certaines fonctions d’adjoint(e) juridique.

Description de poste

Soutien juridique

Assister le professionnel du droit : effectuer des tâches juridiques spécialisées telles que recherches de jurisprudence, analyse ainsi que la préparation et rédaction de documents répondant aux normes professionnelles.
Prendre des notes pendant les consultations et les audiences.
Aider l’avocat lors de la préparation de procès.
Gestion de cas : possibilité de coordonner l'ensemble des étapes et d'avoir une implication directe dans les dossiers.

Administration

Communication et correspondance : répondre aux appels et courriels, assurer le soutien administratif et organisationnel (suivi, mise à jour et classement des dossiers).
Traiter l’information entrante et sortante : faire le pont entre l’avocat, les clients et les différents intervenants.
Rédiger, réviser et mettre en page des documents juridiques et administratifs (traduction des

textes entre l’anglais et le français à l’occasion).

Émettre des factures, traiter les paiements, gérer les comptes clients et fournisseurs.

Qualifications

Maîtrise du français et de l’anglais essentielle (oral et écrit).
Excellentes compétences organisationnelles, souci du détail et autonomie.
Bonnes aptitudes interpersonnelles et sens du service à la clientèle.
Maîtrise des logiciels de bureautique (Suite Microsoft Office 365).
Volonté d’apprendre et capacité à gérer une charge de travail diversifiée.
Sensibilité culturelle et ouverture à la réconciliation avec les peuples autochtones.

Exigences du poste

Déplacements occasionnels entre Montréal, Iqaluit et ailleurs au Canada (couverts par l’employeur).
L’employé devra passer les examens du ministère de la Justice territorial pour être nommé notaire public en vertu des lois territoriales.
Le candidat retenu devra se soumettre à une vérification des antécédents judiciaires et de crédit comme condition d’emploi. Ces vérifications sont essentielles pour garantir l’intégrité et la confidentialité requises dans un environnement juridique.

We are seeking a dynamic, resourceful, and motivated individual who wants to make a difference in the community to join our team as a paralegal with some legal assistant responsibilities.

Job Description

Legal support

Assist the legal professional: performing specialized legal tasks such as case law research, analysis, and the preparation and drafting of documents that meet professional standards.
Take notes during consultations and hearings.
Assist the lawyer during trial preparation.
Case management: ability to coordinate all steps and have direct involvement in cases.

Administration

Communication and correspondence: answering calls and emails, providing administrative and organizational support (follow-up, updating and filing of documents).
Handling incoming and outgoing information: bridging the gap between the lawyer, clients and various stakeholders.
Drafting, revising and formatting legal and administrative documents (translating texts between English and French on occasion).
Issuing invoices, processing payments, managing customer and supplier accounts.

Qualifications

Fluency in French and English (spoken and written) is essential.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and autonomy.
Good interpersonal skills and a strong sense of customer service.
Proficiency in office softwares (Microsoft Office 365 Suite).
Willingness to learn and ability to manage a diverse workload.
Cultural sensitivity and openness to reconciliation with indigenous peoples.

Job requirements

Occasional travel between Montreal, Iqaluit and elsewhere in Canada (covered by the employer).
The employee will need to pass the territorial Department of Justice exams to be appointed as a notary public under territorial laws.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal and credit background check as a condition of employment. These checks are essential to ensure the integrity and confidentiality required in a legal environment.
