Mining Borehole Geophysics | Canada
This is not an entry-level wireline position.
SEMM Geoservices is looking for an experienced wireline professional who can lead crews, solve difficult technical problems, and deliver exceptional borehole geophysical data in some of the most challenging mining environments in Canada.

What You'll Do
As a Senior Wireline Technician, you'll be responsible for leading field operations from mobilization through project completion while serving as the technical expert on site.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading wireline logging operations while maintaining the highest standards of safety and data quality.
- Supervising and mentoring field technicians.
- Working directly with mine geologists, drilling contractors, and project managers.
- Troubleshooting complex downhole geophysical systems and wireline equipment in the field.
- Managing daily field logistics, equipment, inventory, and mobilizations.
- Performing advanced calibration, maintenance, and repair of logging systems.
- Coordinating with Operations to ensure projects are completed efficiently and on schedule.
- Completing technical reports, safety documentation, and operational records.
- Continuously improving field procedures and helping develop new tools and workflows.
We're Looking for Someone Who Can Walk Onto Site and Make Things Happen
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in mining borehole geophysics and be comfortable working independently in remote environments.
You should have experience with:
Borehole Geophysics
- Acoustic & Optical Televiewers
- Magnetic Susceptibility
- Caliper
- Density
- Full Wave Sonic
- Resistivity
- Borehole Magnetic Resonance (preferred)
Directional Survey Equipment
Experience with systems from:
Rig Alignment Systems
Experience with:
Logging Systems
Experience operating and troubleshooting equipment from manufacturers such as:
- LIM
- ALT
- MSI
- Robertson Geologging
Technical Skills
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems.
You'll have experience with:
- Advanced wireline troubleshooting
- Electrical and electronic diagnostics
- Hydraulic and mechanical repairs
- Winch maintenance and repair (TOP MECA T1000 & T2000 preferred)
- Reading wiring diagrams and technical drawings
- Using multimeters, meggers, oscilloscopes, and precision measuring equipment
- Calibration and maintenance of geophysical instruments
Field Experience
You should be comfortable working in remote mining environments, including:
- Underground and surface operations
- Helicopter-supported projects
- Arctic and extreme-weather conditions
- Long rotations and travel throughout Canada
You must also have:
- Minimum 3 years of wireline or borehole geophysics experience
- Valid driver's license
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Strong commitment to safety
- Bilingual (English/French) is considered a strong asset.
