Title: Truss Designer

Location: 1700 Molson St, Winnipeg

Job Overview

Reporting to the Design Manager, as the Truss Designer you will prepare truss layouts, designs and estimates for various building projects.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Structural design and providing estimates for roof and/or floor truss systems as well as Engineered Wood Product (I-joists, LVL) floor systems and individual components according to specifications and requirements.
Implementing design changes and communicating with other related departments to ensure designs & estimates are accurate.
Promoting a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with Qualico’s Safety Program, policies and procedures.
Providing technical support to customers when required.
Providing support to other projects or duties as assigned.

Essential Requirements

Post-secondary education, experience or technical training courses in Architecture, Engineering or Drafting.
Previous experience with Truss or building component design.
Experience with Mitek truss design software is preferred.
Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Teams, SharePoint and Excel).

Working Conditions

You primarily work in an office setting during regular business hours. Overtime may be required.

Star Truss, a division of Star Building Materials, is one of Manitoba’s largest prefab truss plants. With an extremely experienced design staff, state-of-the-art design software and the latest in manufacturing equipment, we can successfully complete the most difficult projects.

Star Truss manufactures and supplies prefab floor and roof trusses to builders throughout Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. We also supply a full range of engineered wood products such as wood I-joists, LVL beams and LVL wall framing.
