Senior Full Stack Developer

Location: Edmonton, AB (Primarily Remote within Canada; Occasional Onsite Meetings May Be Required)
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 12 Months (Potential Extension Available)
Schedule: Full-Time | 7.25 Hours per Day

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Developer to support large-scale digital transformation and modernization initiatives. This role involves working within cross-functional Agile teams to design, develop, implement, and maintain modern digital solutions that improve service delivery and user experiences.

The successful candidate will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including discovery, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement. This position requires strong technical expertise, collaboration skills, and the ability to work across multiple projects while contributing to high-quality, user-centered digital products.

Key Responsibilities

Participate in project discovery, research, and requirements gathering activities.
Lead technical discovery efforts and create supporting documentation, diagrams, and technical artifacts.
Design and develop scalable, secure, and maintainable full-stack applications.
Build and enhance frontend and backend functionality to meet business and user needs.
Collaborate closely with product owners, designers, researchers, and technical teams.
Develop solution designs and implementation approaches based on project requirements.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve application defects and performance issues.
Improve code quality, testing practices, documentation, and development processes.
Support deployment activities, production releases, and post-launch enhancements.
Develop reusable components, services, and shared platform capabilities.
Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
Provide technical guidance and recommendations to stakeholders and project teams.
Contribute to onboarding, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of professional experience as a Full Stack Developer, Software Developer, or Software Engineer.
Strong experience developing modern web applications using frontend and backend technologies.
Experience designing, building, and consuming RESTful APIs and web services.
Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and development best practices.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Experience with source control systems such as Git.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience creating technical documentation, solution designs, and architecture artifacts.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting digital transformation or modernization initiatives.
Experience working on enterprise-scale applications and platforms.
Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Experience building secure, scalable, and highly available applications.
Experience mentoring developers and contributing to engineering best practices.
Experience working in public sector, government, or large enterprise environments.

Pay: $91.21-$114.02 per hour
